General Panda 4x4 Best deals........

I'm not, but the wife is! Any idea how much off the IAM members get?

The main deal was a very good low deposit/low interest PCP but you need to register onto the scheme via the iam website..... I contacted fiat direct as I was not interested in credit and asked what cash purchase deal they could offer. I got 15% on the car & all factory-fit options

How did you get on in the end stu0710?

The boys down here said they found you a car. Was it not quite right for you?

Hi Deeyup, thanks for your tip and sorry, I meant to come back to you, but a bit of a hectic start to the week. I spoke with Marc and he did indeed find a suitably specced car, but so far he hasn't come close on price compared to the other deals on offer. I have a couple of dealers 'on the hook' at the moment but I'm keeping them hanging on in the hope that the deals improve as they get closer to their end of month targets. I'm not desperate to buy a car so I'm hanging out for the best deals. If that doesn't work out then an internet broker has got factory cars to order at £12.5K plus options so that looks interesting...........:)

Hopefully playing a waiting game will work in my favour. Watch this space!

Fair enough, you have to play the game :)

edit:
I checked, you need to be Fiat employed (or be very friendly with someone who is) to get on to affinity

Hmmm .... I had decided to buy a 4x4 TA, but I've just been offered a 4x4 MJ at a cracking price (nearly £2.5K off list) so I'm a bit undecided at the moment?

Are the TA and MJ on the same service intervals?

I think they are the same intervals. 18k miles
If I could have bought a multijet for the same price as a twinair, I would have.
My driving at 60 mph would suit the derv great. Although, if it was town use mostly, I would avoid the multijet. The better mpg would have saved me around £300 a year, but remember the road tax is approx £100 more, so £200 a year maybe?
The twinair is certainly more fun to drive though imo and it doesn't drone like the multijet.

Did you drive both motors? I did, back to back, reset the trips on both cars, took the same route. Petrol showed 36mpg, diesel 48mpg.
But, multijet at the time was £1k more so that influenced me, I don't regret it.

Yes I drove them back to back, but discounted the MJ due to the supposed £1K price differential. The MJ felt more 'grown up' and less special than the TA and I thought it wanted another gear at the top end. However a quick look a Fuelly figures for the 2WD Pandas suggests TA's achieving 45-48mpg whereas the MJ's are doing 60 mpg plus? I'm likely to be doing mostly 50 mile round trip commutes 3-4 days a week which are predominantly A road with 2-3 miles of congested traffic each way so there shouldn't be any DPF issues. This has really put a 'cat amongst the pidgeons' (or Pandas).

If you're looking at this in the short term, then remember that the first year's tax would be free for either, then reverts to the standard rate (currently £105 for MJ 4x4 and £30 for the TA 4x4).

I think it comes down to whether you follow your head (MJ) or your heart (TA). I'm sure that the MJ would cost less over a few years, and that the TA would be more fun.

My feeling exactly, it basically comes down to £12150 for the TA (plus options) or £12550 for the MJ (plus options), so (£1850 discount on the TA) or (£2500 discount on the MJ). Residuals could be better on the MJ though......

I'm not convinced with the panda 4x4 the MJ would have better residuals. I ha the choice of both new (loving diesels )and went for the TA on the gearbox, lower tax, better performance, DPF issues with short journeys and more fun to drive. If that's the driving factor when buying new I'd have thought 2nd hand it'd be even more important to have lower tax and fewer possible issues (DPF). Just my opinion but I know for a fact when I bought mine a couple had a 4x4 cross in at the same time and they went for the TA saying it was quieter and faster.

Agree with that. When I was pondering which engine to go for, my dealer didn't think there would be much difference between them when it comes to residuals. The 4x4 has always been a bit 'niche' anyway so with luck it may not devalue at quite the same rate as the std car - assuming it stays niche of course! LoL
