I have a Panda 2013 1.2 and i'm new to Fiat. I only had VW cars and now a lot about VW but now i got the Panda. Can the 1.4 turbo engine swap can it be possible?

I'm not planning on doing this right now, i just wanted to know what engine swap are possible if i want to do it in a couple of years... A friend told me that with Fiat engines swaps are easier than VW i want to know if this is truth.

We only have the panda 1.2 so getting a 1.4, the 100hp or the 1.3 diesel is not an option.

Thanks and sorry for taking your time.

Have you considered fitting a turbo to the 1.2?
R1NGA has turbo'd the mk3 4x4 1.2 to good effect.

Check the following thread.

First of all it's "not" a turbo but a Rotrex compressor.

I had contact with a Rotrex specialist overhere and it cost at leased 6.000,- Euro to get a working kit on the 1.2 ltr.
But with only 110 hp as a result it's a bit expensive IMHO, price/power ratio.
To get a desent power hike it will cost close to 5 digits for around 150 hp.

I think a turbo upgrade would bring more power for less money.

My Rotrex'd conversion is now some 16,000 miles in and doing well. My only issue has been the Dastek UNI-Q piggyback, which over time started to argue with the Marelli ECU in all sorts of self-learning strops and the idle and low speed control went to pot (typical long slow traffic jam type of situation - very frustrating). So right this second it is back to the mappers to have the map in the UNI-Q transferred over to the Marelli OEM ECU, as they have now got the ECU cracking sorted on the IAW59F unit. This means we can soon remove the UNI-Q and the car will be back to full OEM setup, albeit with bigger injectors and a 2Bar MAP. And a supercharger.....

Mr Mapper says that they've gotten a little more power and torque out of it, but I am still only expecting about 115bhp tops, which is fine all things considered.

To get back to the original thread though, the 1.4 block is exactly the same shape as the 1.2, so an engine swap would be easy. Perhaps a cheeky overbore on the 1.4, plus some cam and head work and a nice (now it's possible) remap to suit and it would make a nice simple conversion. Perhaps next time....

Turbo charging the 1.2 with a Garrett GT1548 will give you around 120 hp and with some fine tuning even close to 140 hp, i reckon.
If there was just a plug & Play turbo manifold for the 8v 1.2 ltr.
It would be a lot simpler if the Panda had a 16v 1.2 ltr engine.

The Rotrex way is much more complicated on the new Panda due to the airco pump in place.
The Rotrex has to move to the front of the engine.

... agreed. But fortunately my car was without A/C, so it was simpler. Totally agree that a turbo makes more power, but I initially ran with the bigger Rotrex, but that made too much boost and would have needed boost control, which I didn't want to have to do. Turbo would of course need it too though.

Well they can get at least 125bhp out of the TA, they've said so already, so let's see if they can get 135 ;)

The less weight the better at the front, because handling is as important as outright speed for Abarths, but the 160 four would do fine.

The 500L already gets a 160bhp engine in America, so perhaps they are thinking of the 1.7 Alfa unit for that car? 220bhp 500L anybody :yum::yum:

It would make sense that the Abarth 500L get the 1750 Turbo Benzina engine.
