Just ordered a new Twinair Trekking in Tuscany Green for delivery in September ie. with 63 plate. Added a few extras that I have become used to on my current Punto Evo such as auto aircon and also included a spare wheel. (Never been entirely happy without one in the Punto!) Dealer anticipates being able to meet delivery date target - lets hope he's right.

I,m glad to here you have ordered a fait panda and welcome ,I hope your car comes on time as others have had delays on there car opions ,its good that ordered a spare wheel ,I used to have a Punto first car M reg SX70 blue trade in for my fist panda Mk3 , now have Mk 4 4x4 ,I hope you have the twinair version like mine goes like stink ad is a marked improvement on the Mk 3

Hello again,

Dealer told me the car has now reached code 16.

By the way I've had two Pandas before, apart from a 127 and a 131 estate back in the late 70's. Had a 05 plate Eleganza with the 1.2 engine which I always thought needed a little more power. So changed up to a 56 plate 100HP, which was great fun, but it was the harsher ride on pot-holed rural roads which was one of the reasons I decided to change to a Punto Evo. Been a great car but not as characterful as a Panda.

Still don't see many Mk4 Pandas around here (Northamptonshire) of any type.

I also had a 100hp that I swapped for the Twinair Trekking, and funnily enough I'm also from Northamptonshire. You're right, there are very few Mk4 Pandas around here. I see far more Evoques round where I am (Towcester). The Trekking is far more suitable for the roads around here than the 100hp was although I would've liked to have had both :)

I did actually see another Trekking on the A43 in orange the other day. The first one I've seen since I got my car in March.

Mine's white with mudflaps if you ever see me about.

Indeed, where did you get the mudflaps?
And how easy are they to fit?
I dread to think how much a dealer might charge to fit a pair, if and when they become available as "official" accessories.

I posted a pic of them in the 4x4 thread a couple of weeks ago:

They aren't the best quality to be honest but do the job for now. I got them here:

Just got them on the rear for now as the fronts will require taking the wheels off I think. For the rear I made a hole in the mudflap and re-used one of the screws that holds the wheel arch liner in place. There's only one suitably placed screw so I had to use these too:

Bit of a faff but they work and it didn't cost a great deal.

Cheers

John

Busman683 > Will have to keep a lookout for you as I live west side Northampton - enjoying the Trekking so far :D

Hello John S, I too will look out for you, although as I live in a village to the north east of Northampton, our paths may not cross very often.

An update.
When I ordered my car at the beginning of June, as I particularly want to have a 63 plate, I allowed, based on previous experience, 12 weeks plus one spare (!) so my car ought to have been available for September. My dealer was happy with this and we based the p/x of my Punto Evo on that delivery date. Yesterday I had a call from my dealer to say that, to his surprise, the car has gone from code 16 to code 40 (arrived at docks in UK) in two weeks!
Accordingly, I could probably have the car earlier. I re-confirmed I still want to have a 63 plate and he has said that he will be happy to hold the car until then.
At least this will give the dealer plenty of time to prepare the car and, if I understand correctly from other threads, the car will not be delayed because of any holiday shutdowns in Italy during August.
I wonder if the dealer will let me see the car before the delivery date?

Another update.
Had another call from the dealer this morning to say that my car had arrived. That means it took 6 weeks and 1 day from when it was ordered. Speculating that Fiat maybe pushing through orders before the summer closure?
Anyway, the dealer has offered me an increase of 8% on the trade in value of my old car if I will take delivery before September as originally planned. That means no 63 plate so, I may use some of the extra cash to buy a "personalised" plate from the DVLA. I see they have some at £250. Will see what I can find.

Been to see my new Trekking at the dealers this afternoon. I did buy a "personalised" numberplate from the DVLA, which came through in about four days. So, everything is now set for me to take delivery on Wednesday.

Incidently, I ordered the space saver spare wheel and that sits in the bottom of the boot with no space to put the tool kit, which is in bag in the boot. The bag does have Velcro on it to stop it sliding about. Will check out further when I have the car.
