Rumour has it that 2013 is the year of the new Fiat Panda Sport introduction.
The Panda Sport will have a 105 hp Twin Air Turbo engine.
Here a little render.

I know it's just a render but personally I would want something more aggressive and sporty looking than that. I hope Fiat doesn't just add some alloys and a spoiler because it needs much more. I'm also very doubtful that 105 bhp will be enough to give what is a bigger and heavier Panda decent performance.

I reckon a sports halo-model would be great for the brand - say 200hp + and lowered suspension / beefed up brakes and some nice sporty seats should do it. I reckon the chassis is up to this and they'd then have a TwingoSport frightener on their hands. There seems little point in a lightly warmed Panda...

500 Abarth's don't even have 200 hp, let alone there will be a Panda with it.

The rumours sugest a 105 hp TA engine, and that make sense.
The 1.4 MA 135 hp is the first step of the 500 Abarth, so it will be doubtful that just a Panda sport will get that engine.
A Panda 135 HP would most likely have the performance similar to the lighter old 100 Hp.

Oh well, I can dream!

I do like what Renault have done with their sport range. Proper driver's cars with decent pokey engines and not too much bling. FIAT should try it...

The new Twingo next year is supposed to be rear engined and rear wheel drive.I can just imagine what Renault Sport could do with it.Even if given a tiny engine it would be a laugh.I hope Fiat will do something special if they make another Panda sport.I wouldnt expect it to be as quick as the Abarths.I would want it to compete with the Swift Sport and I cant see why they couldnt do that.I can only guess that given 105 bhp you would get a 0 to 60 time in the high 9 second or even 10 second bracket.

The Panda TA 85 can be software tuned up to ± 98 hp, more is not possible with the turbo it have.
The TA 105 hp engine have a somewhat different turbo, software tuning on that one result into ± 121 hp.

More power is only possible with a turbo upgrade in the form of optimising the turbo with 5-AXIS CNC machining processes, Utilizing a bigger compressor and also using a larger clipped turbine wheel, then fitting uprated bearings for the very best compromise between power output, longevity and turbo response.
With some luck you can end up with a ± 140 hp TA engine.

I would prefer the 1.4 MA 135 hp engine though. ;)

According to Parkers, the 100hp and Trekking Twinair weigh the same...

I highly douby Fiat will produce a sport model that would rival the Abarths, even after a remap.

A 105hp Twinair sport Panda would be my guess and should be as fun as the 100hp. Lets just hope they improve the suspension.

I think the sad fact is, if you want a quick sport Fiat, you'll need to buy an Abarth.

I read today that Fiat can easily make the Twinair give 135 bhp with the same capacity, so watch out!

It was in Auto Italia I think, and they were talking about the new 500L.
