I've been using premium fuel at the pumps lately and i've notice great improvements in driving dynamics, more importantly in eco mode. It has a more linear power delivery, smoother acceleration and better fuel economy. Also engine at tickover is more quieter and refined. It does not costs a lot to use it as the tank is small. Will be sticking to it for the life I have this vehicle.

Not that I doubt you're opinion, never used premium stuff so I'm inexperienced... But do you think it could be a placebo effect?
A bit like the car usually seems to drive better when it's had a big old clean in and out?
Just wondering. If it's better and noticeably so I may end up following your lead with mine once it arrives.

I would have thought super was a waste of money on a modern engine. My old mk1 Punto Sporting had a learning ECU and would definitely be quicker on the first tank, then back to normal once it had re calibrated, making a second tank pointless. Same on the Coupe 20v so I'd guess the t/a uses something at least as sophisticated.

You won't be able to tell while it's loosening up anyway. If you're happy it's better though, that's great (y)

I've been using Shell V-Power in our Fiat 1,6-16V for exactly 10 years now, and I mean ONLY V-Power, (even on holidaytrips abroad).
Car is 13 yrs now and has driven almost 200.000km's (=125000 mls).
Engine runs like new, passes ( Dutch) Mot every year without any problem.
Car feels and pulls strong as ever, all 100 hp's are still there for sure..!!
Two years ago, I bought an Alfa Romeo GT jtd 150hp with almost 130.000mls, and guess what:I only use Shell V-Power Diesel in it !!

I've just put the second tank of Tesco momentum99 in my car.

It's too early to tell as I'm only just passing 1000 miles so the motor is still loosening up, but going on the graph it has helped.
I think I'll stay on 99 octane till the end of the month and then go back to 95 for a month.

Have used V-Power pretty much all the time since we bought our Panda last April. I'd always used regular unleaded in our old 500 but then decided to give it a try, you can see further details in this thread:

https://www.fiatforum.com/500/222150-shell-v-power.html

The same still applies really; it does seem to have some benefits in terms of the smoothness of the engine when idling after a cold start.

As for performance and economy, given that I haven't actually used regular unleaded for a sustained period in the Panda, it's difficult to say. Certainly the performance up to 40mph in first, second or third is really spritely, but I don't know whether that is down to further refinements made to our 1.2 compared to the same unit in the 500 as opposed to any performance benefits of using V-Power.

But I still save up my V-Power points and get around £5 of money off vouchers every quarter, so that helps to pay back some of the difference in price.

Overall, is it worth it? For me personally, yes. I'm really happy with the way our car runs and so to me it does seem to be worth using. But I respect those who think it's a waste of money as well!:)
