Good evening all,

I had my TwinAir at the dealer this morning getting the boot mechanism changed. When all was done, the receptionist said that there was a Campaign on (definitely not a recall, although it might well be the same thing :D) regarding the Coils on the Twin Air. She said they had been replaced due to this campaign because Fiat (not the dealer) had found something wrong with them. It is only applicable to the TwinAir engine.

I must admit, I wasn't aware that anything was wrong with the engine but it did feel a good bit smoother when driving home.

Might be worth anyone with a TwinAir Panda to contact their dealer about this??(y)

Well documented in the 500 section. A few twin airs cutting out and misfiring. Mouthing major though.

Just read through the 500 section on this issue. Thanks for pointing me in that direction. I honestly wasn't aware that there was anything up with the engine/ignition so was a bit of a surprise when they told me the coils had been replaced. Nice to know Fiat are on the ball with this!

Your particular car may well have been fine, but fiat are replacing coils on twin airs manufactured before a certain date as a precaution.

Just got the call from my dealer to have the coils replaced on my 9-month-old TA. Still referred to as a "campaign" by Fiat. I must admit not to have noticed any malfunction, but better safe than sorry. :)
Mike.

Just had the boot and coil pack plus engine mount recall done. I do think that it is a little smoother but this could well be just in my head.

Geoff.

Grrr, I had a good long trip today and notice when the engine stops automaticly it start imediately again by itself. This has happened several times today. Outside temperature is -1 but the engine is warm.
Is this a known problem with the start/stop ?. Do I have bad coils ?

Nothing to do with coils, well documented with the SS system, worth a search,
