We live in the middle of nowhere and are struggling to get a distributor cap for my son's 1990 fiat panda. Does anyone know the part number so that I can see if I can source one on the net - or does anyone know where best I can get one from?

on ebay there are a few caps and also a whole distributor and cap plus leads for a 1000 panda.

I did look at ebay but wasn't sure if they were the right ones. One mentioned a fire engine and I wasn't sure if that was the same as ours. Is it worth bidding on cos it might work anyway?

if you have a 999cc Panda, then that is the FIRE engine. Im amazed you cant find one, any motor store should be able to help.

If you have 999cc (fire engine) the fiat part number for the distributor cap would be:-

White/creamy (More common) coloured cap (Marelli) 9939789
Black Coloured cap (Ducellier) 9941721

any good motor factors should keep the marelli one in stock.

Maybe this is a stupid question but are they easy to fit? I've just had a quote on one for under a tenner with postage from an address I got off this fiat site. Is it silly to buy a used one though? Actually have just realised thats two questions!!

think we might need a new distributor now and not just the cap. Again are there any suggestions where to get one from online or otherwise. And would we do better to get a new one rather than used? My son's so fed up with his car now - its already cost us £400 and still its playing up but at least the brakes are working, which would be really handy if we could get it to start!!!

just wondering would the 999cc fire dizzy cap be the same as the 750cc and would a 999cc dizzy work on a 750 and the other way lol. thanks

Hey dont know if this is still relevant but i was stuck on Mull recently with no distributor cap as the carbon brush burned away and broke up so I feel for you! A 750 cap should be exactly the same. A 900 pandas will most definitely not be. Hard to fit? Well for an asthmatic granny it might be but everyone else should do fine. It just clips on. Why do u think the distributor needs replacing? Any dizzy cap you buy will be a new one people dont supply used ones.
