Ok, thicko question now - how do the roofs stay open? I opened it the other day and it blew shut once I was over about 30mph - I looked and decided that the rubber strap with the slit in it would logically hook over the little plastic hook in front of the hole in the roof - there's one strap and one hook per sunroof but the rubber strap will nowhere near reach the plastic hook - what am I doing wrong here? Spring is springing and I want to cruise in my babe-magnet with the roof(s) open! :D

Here's a couple of not very good photos of mine. It does give you an idea though.

I'm away this weekend but if you're still struggling next week (and the sun is shining ;) ) I'll take some better ones.

Cheers,

Plug

Cheers! I was doing it all wrong! I'm sure I'll figure it out now :)

Who needs air con with roofs like these ha!ha! fab in the summer sitting in my colour ahhhhhhh bliss very refreshing on a long drive 1 reason i love this car.

are we there yet?ha!ha!

Exactly, I never understood the logic behind that. A flimsy piece of rubber and a small plastic clip is supposed to keep the roof open at speeds of up to 80mph or so. Madness...

i suppose the roof doesnt flick open at high speed as its only held by a flimsy piece of rubber and a small plastic clip, and as you have the roof closed 98% of the year it would be under even MORE stress :chin:

OMG I still can't see how the rubber holds em open - it's not long enough!

I don't know about anyone else but they are a tight squeeze. It's quite possibe that with the colder temperatures in winter, the fabric isn't folding properly and giving the strap too much to go over.

In hot weather the material softens and becomes more flexible and fixing the straps is easy.

I have on a few occasions had the roof open and not secured it with straps, just folding it forward. It's never flown back though with the roof down I never drive enthusiastically as the car seemingly punches a hole through the air twice as large as with the roof down, destroying MPG and knocking legions off the top speed.

Of course it is entirely possible that your straps are broken?

Thank ypu Jim, that explains a lot! My straps are bust! :) No wonder I couldn't hook em on, they're only about 3 or 4ins long with one slit in them - and that's both of them. Thanks guys for pics n stuff! Anyone got any spare straps? Hmmm are they changeable, what are they fixed with? Too dark to go and look.
ps Jim, did you find the seat link?

Thanks, I'll try and track that down then, having a real back prob lately. You still watching Lost btw? :) Season 3 and we're still hooked!
