ok as some of you may know.
i had a slight coolant leak, which due to topping up for
2 months resulted in little to non anti freeze without me realising.

i went to use the car, EVERYTHING was frozen !
(this includes me staring in disbelief)

after thawing it out and watching it drip lots.
i went to start it, bad noise followed by no firing at all !

damage was ..... ! .....

-broken coolant pump gasket
-broken themostat gasket
-broken head gasket
-stripped smooth then snapped cam belt (from frozen pump)
-broken inlet manifold gasket
-cracks and HOLE in exhaust side of cylinder head ! (PIC BELOW !!)

after lots of gaskets and a new head from Tony M (thankstastic) i was sorted, and all in time for delivery work the day after at 5pm. haha

i know the frost is gone for this year probably,
but thought people could learn from my rather large mistake !

and its interesting how much damage was done !

enjoy

aran.

EXACTLY !
its deffinetly not a weak spot.
just the same as when you freeze an egg the shell cracks.
and when you freeze an engine the head cracks.

with antifreeze in there, your engine wont oxidise/rust on the inside of all those passages, and it will keep cooler in summer and will keep a little warmer in winter. and it WONT FREEZE !
ACE !

i just find it impressive the amount of force ice can produce !
