Hi there.

I'm currently rebuilding my Cinquecento Sporting and am selling the whole top end of my engine. I know that there are some Pandas that have the same top end as the Cinqucento sporting, and I am trying to be as comprehensive as possible with my descriptions so am looking for which models of the panda are fuel injected, and have coil packs.

Any that other models that are similar, ie FIRE units but with dizzy and carbs? With them, how does the head differ - the fuel pump is driven by the cam isn't it - what about the dizzy?

This is the description of parts so far:

Fiat FIRE performence package.

This has all been removed from my 1242cc Cinquencento Sporting, i'm in the process of fitting a whole new fuel system and management system - and all of my current fuel/inlet system is being replaced with slightly different kit. All of it works flawlessly, and has not been removed because it is faulty.

Throttle Body
This is a 40mm throttle body, it was modified and englarged to 40mm by Tricker. His work is well repsected and known through the FIRE tuning community, this throttle body alone is a very nice upgragde - allowing the engine to breath much easier.
The fuel pressure regualtor has been adjusted to allow a slight increase in fuel pressure, it can be adjusted back but it was done to try and get a bit more fuel into the engine as the tuned inlet was doing a good job of bringing in the extra air.
The throttle body is sold as a whole unit, it includes all the sensors, fuel injector and idle control solenoid. All in working order.

Inlet manifold
SPI inlet manifold from a Cinquencento Sporting. This has been ported to match the cylinder head ensuring a smooth tranisistion from the manifold to the head. It has also been painted, the centre sections are black and the branches of the pipes are red. All done with high temperature paint. Includes servo hose / MAP sensor take off and ECU coolant temperature sensor (these alone are £30 from FIAT).

Cylinder Head.
Ported, flowed and multi angle cut valve seats. This head was stripped, worked on and then rebuilt by GSR. It's been done properly, by a company who know this engine well. The work done on the valve seats improve air flow at higher RPM. It has been skimmed to the max skim markers to increase the compression ratio. This allows even more power.
This head has been looked after, it has never been overheated, the engine was never thrashed from cold and only quality oil was used (Selenia 20K). Since being removed from the car, it has been skimmed once more to ensure it is flat for whoever refits it. It includes the cam cover, but NO camshaft (sorry, i need that for my new engine).
Since being rebuilt around 12months ago this head has done approx 10 000 miles and the work alone it cost £300.

ECU.
This is an ECU from a 1997 Cinquencento Sporting. It is of the non-soldered type and is fitted with a non-coded mckrich chip. It is as simple as unplugging your old ECU and fitting this one in its place. This chip on a standard engine makes a very noticeable difference to the way the car drives, combined with the other parts i am selling it makes an even bigger difference. The ECU has been painted with high temperature red paint, and matches the inlet manifold.

any help you could give me in figuring out how many of these parts would also suit a panda, and which panda would be most appericatated.

i'll have a stab at some details... but my knowledge is pretty shallow.

there's as far as i am aware 3 types. the carburetor model, the 1st generation catalytic, and the 92> 2nd generation catalytic i.e. engine.

the distributor on the first two types of FIRE 999cc was driven from the belt. there is no distributor on the mk3 engine.

the cam powered fuel pump is only on the mk1 FIRE with the pump being moved to the fuel tank on the mk2.

it seems also that the mk2 engine has got a 4x4 cam installed in it, verified by myself and PeteL, probably installed to hide a loss of power because of the catalyst reducing the engine breathing. Also it seems to have a 4 hex bolt manifold mount for the carb, which i had seen before on puntos but not 999cc or 1108cc pandas (these both use a two diagonal bolt pattern).

hope these details help.
