I'm getting the plans together this week for the trip to the Ring in May with Sylvia. To be honest we're going to rent one of the ringhus cars for the track but I intend to take the panda out at least once for a few photos (From the track side, not in the car:( ) and add it to the list of things that Sylvia's done.

Anybody interesting in joining? Nothing offical just if you want to come I'll be posting the exact date but I was thinking of Monday the 28th May as it's one of the few weekdays that the track is open all day (from 8am) and us poor Irish folk have a very very long haul to Nordschleife from Belfast!

A few laps of the 'ring is on my to-do list but I wasn't thinking of taking my Panda round there and I won't have the financial ka-pow to fund the trip either. However if this becomes a yearly thing I may be able to join in the future. Hell there could be an annual FF meet at the Nurburgring for the whole forum...

For anybody that's interested here's some costs that I got from the net for a weekend trip to the ring for 2 people in 1 car.

Channel crossing: Varies, but say typically £120
Petrol en-route: Typically 2 x £60 = £120
Petrol for the Ring: Say £90
Bed-and-breakfast per person: £25 per night x 2 = £50
Food: 2 x dinner, 2 x lunch, food en-route, beer = £100
25-lap ticket = £232
Total = approx £700

I'm going to have another 300 quid to rent a race car on top of that and I'll have the extra tank of fuel and the extra ferry to get too:( (the joys of living in the most westerly bit of Europe!) so anyone from NI is looking 900-1200 quid for a weekend!

Thankfully I'm sharing this with a car mad mate of mine*.....

*My Alan won't go cause I showed him these videos on the NIIMC site! lol!!!!:D

I particularly like the one where the focus nearly wipes out the BMW 3 series:p

25 laps is a lot! I did 6 laps across 2 days. Don't forget it takes at least 10 minutes a lap*, so 25 laps is over 4 hours flat-out driving, on a road where you don't really want to be pushing more than 90%.
Buy less laps, and then you spend less on fuel too.

* Possibly 15 in a Classic Panda

i wouldnt do 25 laps, i think it will be too much on the panda, like H said, we did 6 in the coupe and lasted two days.

The track gets closed all the time because of accidents, i think you would struggle to fit them in, plus after the 25th lap it would get a bit boring.

Did anybody actually read the first 3 lines of my 1st post?:bang:

:p

I've got to share this run with my mate Alistair so it's one run for Sylvia and 12 in the golf for me and 12 in the golf for Al!

Thou possably I might let Sylvia drive the Golf a couple of times....

Well, finally got most of it sorted...

350 quid in ferrys alone thou have really blown a bit of the budget, especally as I fancy a trip to the Mercedes museum in Stuttgart but it's going to be worth it (As long as Alistair is still speaking to me by the end of it.. He's a 'Panda Adventure' virgin and doesn't do 'Italian' )

Thinking of getting a set of these for Sylvia's door!

But it looks like Sylvia won't be the first or fastest panda by a long shot...

A couple of us are going in May as well - need to show a Mini Turbo who the boss is!
Last time went in a panda they wouldn't let us on...

PS
Think Iceland is a little bit further west....thats probably why they don't do caravans.

No, but Iceland do really good 2 for 1 on sausage rolls.....

They'll let Sylvia on, No one says 'No' to her!

It will never be ready in time for the boat tonight...

No, you can't take it to the Sahara....

You'll never get it into America

Etc....

Anyway, want to watch Sabine do it properly?

Was having a chat with some of the CPW suits today about getting a sat nav as the charity prize for the Istanbul Run and I thougth I'd chance my arm about this nonsense....

So they're giving me a phone as a prize in the 'Guess how long it take to get round the ring in the panda' competition!!!

Wonder if we could get something on line that the FF could do a pound a guess via paypal?
