I am having problems with my panda (K Reg 1000 fire pink limited edition)
When i turn off the engine it still runs on for about 10 seconds it happens when the engine temp is about 90. It is also backfiring a little whilst de accelarating. I have had the plugs changed and had fuel system cleaner in the petrol but to no avail can anyone help?

Initial reading of your post would indicate possible pre ignition. Need to check points and timing.

Your best bet is to buy a Haynes manual or Porter manual, this is relatively easy to fix, even for a beginner, once you know what you looking at.

Although this site can be more informative than both on the right day.

after all the above, then check your idle speed too.

Would help to know if it is carburetor or SPI. If carb, the idle shut off valve might be jammed. It's supposed to block the idle circuit on the carburetor when the ignition is switched off and prevent running on.

I would have thought that a 'K' reg Panda would be running the electronic distributor? If so, points won't be an issue.

Timing could well be out, or there could be an air leak on the induction side. Probably a simple problem that just needs locating and solving to cure it.

All of the "Pinks" were points ignition and they were some of the last Panda's to enter UK with a carb.

the 999cc FIRE was also available with SPI

As Pete states, the Panda in question has points.

And if there is anyone to believe in what is said about a pink Panda it's pete

coz i got one of the first CAT models (K Plate) with the vertically mounted Cat
