Dipping my toe into the panda section and hoping you could answer a few of my questions

I have been having thoughts about panda's for a while now, I have seen a few that take my fancy. A royal blue one advertised as a CLX but have been informed that it may be a Colour edition as the dash dials are multi-coloured and a Sisley 4x4 that is on ebay at the mo - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1991-FIAT-PANDA-SISLEY-4X4-RED_W0QQitemZ110026205485QQihZ001QQ

I have owned a sisley before a 1990 G which unfortunatly died :( . It had the roof rack, why does the ebay one have canvas roof's? - was there a facelift or are they optional extras.

Any issues of rust other than doors that I should be aware of?

Would the 999cc engine be the fire engine?, my mum had a K Parade and it felt slower than the Sisley  , was I dreaming

How obtainable are parts?

What would be a reasonable price for this sisley?

What other things should I check for?

Sorry for the basic questions but I'm not really clued up on these

Thanks

Go for it Gaz. :)

The blue one will be a 'Colour', Sam has a 'Colour' in that blue colour.

Most Sisley's had metal roofs, some with a small glass sunroof, few I've seen had the canvas roof.

Rust, look in the rear arches, along the seam. They rot there, have a good poke. Even if it is rusting there it is fixable with a bit of welding. While you're at it check everywhere else as well and they rot there as well. :D

Parts can be got from your dealer or more cheaply from here, if you need something put an ad up and you will find it. Most of the long term Panda owners have garages full of parts.

I think that Sisley on eBay will go for near £1000, maybe a bit more if it's a good eBay day. That's the going rate for a decent Sisley at the minute.

Check the electrics, rust around the sill and floor, and that's about it. There is nothing that can't be fixed cheaply on a Panda unless you have terminal rot or a car that has been neglected for years.

thanks steve :) , sammi I'm not really sure what I am doing with the cinq, it's interior is in pieces and needs an mot just to get it moving, that doesnt include making it look good

£1000 was what i had in my head, I think my dad paid that much about 8 years+ ago for one, that got severly abused and shot at but still carried onto to well over 100k, they are now have classic status so would expect to pay a premium price

i will not have chance to go and look at it so would probably just bid (pending dads "i told you so" speech) and hope for the best  - but I could just end up with another drive way ornament

Just as an add on to Steve, you need to check under the boot mat for holes & corrosion as most panda's I have seen suffer at those points inc the rear vallance.

The 4x4's are fitted with a very high ratio first gear so would take off quicker initially than most panda's but would easilly be caught up early on as it still has to drag around the 4x4 system whether it's engaged or not and due to the ratios have a slower top end.

The 999 is the fire and why the parade was slower? maybe the robot had an off day :) condition & treatment will always play a big part.

We try our best at sharing parts if someone is struggling or get it fixed if it's life or death.

It would be a pleasure to see you on Gaz the Panda section I'm sure would benefit.

:) gaz , you were serious about getting a panda again, thats brilliant !!
also when looking for rust , push the back seats forward into the doubled up position and look under the rubber matting on the floor as pandas tend to rust along the seam for the back wheel arches - not so obvious at first as the doors !!
good luck hope youre still feeling like a true veggie after your mushrooms and veg sauce LOL :)

Thanks for all our help, i have convinced my dad to let me have another car, i didnt really need his permission but his backing is always nice :D - will need to make space now

I will set myself a limit for this panda and will see what happens

Would cinq engine parts be transferable to the panda?, as I have many

I have asked for interior pictures and will ask to see if they will look in the areas that you have suggested (y)

Don't you mean LOW ratio first gear Alan? A lower ratio would allow better acceleration, though that depends on the diff ratio being the same as a standard Panda.

I thought that the 4x4's were overall lower geared, hence they can accelerate quicker but can't go as fast as 2 wheel drive Panda.

Oh Gaz, other than the engine parts (most FIRE parts are fairly interchangeable), I doubt if many Cinq parts will fit :( However, you need the knowledge from the Panda owners on this one as I have yet to own Panda myself. ;)

if theres any confusion Gaz with the rust info under the back seats and Alan d's write up.....its all the same !!we just tried to post at the same time :)
the red 4x4 sisley in northants (on e-bay ) looks good .but they didnt answer the question of 4wd working , also no interior photos i'd want more info ,low reserve though ,go and check it out quick with some cash in your pocket !:D

Ouch steve , your comment about 'flash' was a bit harsh :) . i do agree with you though that graham's dreaming a little price wise .but its a decent 4x4 panda :) and they have been making over a grand on e-bay lately.....just wondering why that red sisley is so cheap ?

car does look like a bargain gaz. I supposed ebay will sell it for as much as people are willing to pay for it. It is a bit concerning that there arent any interior pictures. Especially when she describles the interior

Might be worth asking someone local on the forum to take a look?!

I would like to ask someone on the forum to take a look :p, but the seller is supplying me with interior pics and pics of the boot area. Once I get them I will let you all have a nosey :)

Gaz, have you seen the Panda 4X4 Sprox has for sale? It's in the classifieds.

Edit - My attention has just been drawn to how much Sprox is looking for his 4X4. Frankly, it's too much, even for a mint one which this is not. The eBay car might be a better bet.
In defense of my asking price - THe sisley that went for £1695 had 56k on the clock.
My panda has 8 months tax -
A brand new MOt
A brand new (only done 6 miles) exhaust that cost £119)
Brand new rear brake shoes and cylinders
A cd player!
A towbar (with working electrics:p )
A new CArburettor
A new distributor
CAr is regulalrly maintained and serviced
THe mileage I have done on it is majority motorway driving
4 good tyres
Excellent interior

And of course, I'm open to offers!
It's going on ebay tomorrow
If you want to make an offer you are welcome - I can reduce price easily if you don't want things like cd player, speakers, towbar etc....

Regards
Graham

I do like flash and i was seriously looking at it, but as steve said it isnt a sisley, ideally i want a sisley cause i have a thing for the canoe

the twin sunroof does it for me also, shame the ebay doesnt have roof bars as they be cool :D

anyone confirm that cinq parts will not fit the panda? before i sell them all

couldnt you put roof bars on it?

Must admit when i was younger i thought the panda was really ugly but as the years have gone on I think they are really cool - espeically the 4x4. If i didnt have my heart set on a 500 i would consider getting a 4x4 myself

Depends on the parts and what Panda you get. The Cinq Sporting alternator is the same as the one on my 1000 FIRE, no doubt some other engine bits will be interchangeable. Cinq/Sei 13" alloys will fit, as will the bolts.

And in a 2WD Panda you can put 1108cc and 1242 (well, any FIRE engine) in without too much trouble. 4x4s are a different story due to the transmission.
