I'd noticed an occasional leak from the inner gaitor on the gearbox side of the Panda 45. It was also an advisory on the MOT when it passed last month.

So a fortnight ago I thought I'd replace the gaitor as I had some spares to hand. I got halfway through dismantling everything in order to remove the driveshaft when I realised what I was looking at was not what Haynes was describing for the Panda 45.....

Checked the other side and it was as described with a shaft retainer bolted on. So checked the 1000CL on the drive and that was the same as what I was looking at and Haynes description for the Mk 2.

So conclusion is that sometime in the past a later gearbox was fitted thus resulting in mismatched gaitor assemblies.

The worst thing is though and typical Sod's law, is that after looking at the MK2 the reason the gaitor was leaking was there was no zip tie on it, which I sorted in 5 minutes, so I spent the whole Sunday dismantling it for no reason whatsoever and was well pi$$ed off....

Don't you just luuuurve the Panda ownership experience :D:D
