erm, nope :) not if it's like the one i saw... did you know it's air cooled !!! wowzers!!!..

yep, i know its air cooled ....er but thats about it  i used to get taken to school in one when i was about 10 and hated sitting squashed in the back next to a noisy engine  but now i'm going to be up front i'm thinking they're rather cute ! should have more info on it in the next couple of days.

Gina!
I had 126's for years!!!!! including a mint white one I picked up for £500 with 10,000 miles on the clock! I drove it form Oxford to DUndee regularly - and got back and bum ache !!!!!

HEad GAsket HEad Gaske HEad GAsket!!!!
THey ALWAYS go - and you need to get the head skimmed when they do.

I did love my 126's but..... I couldn't afford a Panda at the time -

But 126's look totally Cool!

It will need a lot of work to get past the SVA test. Most current production cars would have trouble if the tester is picky. Lots of original parts will probalbly have to be removed/replaced (maybe wing mirrors, trim, intruments, steering wheel etc). All 'sharp' edges will have to be smoothed. The engine may not be able to pass the emissions tests at all. It won't be easy, its why fiat stoped selling them here in the first place. Best of luck;) Damon

It might be wiser just to drive it straight to Spain where they aren't so fussy...

god are you serious ? its a nearly new car.......would i maybe be better off then trying to take it straight to spain ? any-one know ?
is there no way round like just trying to keep it here for up to a year or something ?

One of the main problems is it is too new. The older the car the less stingent some of the requirements (engine emissions mainly). It has to match the 2000emissions tests. Its tricky to say how much work would have to be done as Fiat may have updated some bits since the 126 was last sold in the UK. If you can get loads of photos (inside and out) I may be able to give you a better idea.

might have guessed you'd got there before me grahame
whites sooo last year :D :D
Oh Yeah?
Well! I also had a Bright Blue one - with fabric sunroof
(my first ever car!)
A black one (with a fabric sunroof)
I pulled a BRIGHT YELLOW with orange brown interior (with a FAbric sunroof) out of a farmers barn and got it running
I had a Fantastic AVocado Green one (with a Fabric sunroof)
And then the white one which was in such Fabulous condition it would make you Jealous forever! ( I only blew the headgasket on that one once(y) )

I also bought a scrap Grey one of rparts - it had a number plate: DUF 126V

My my mate Roz had a FIat 133 in GORGEOUS condition but then she got a 126 FSM then a Panda (which I later had for 3 years and ran to 140,000 before selling it) and then she finally got a cinq - then she married a boring gardener (hope he doesn't read this) and got a boring family car . . . . sigh!)

Don't worry Gina! You know I'll be there with my 17mm spanner and torque wrench when you need me! Luv ya!

If the 126 was 10 years old or over then you would be fine as you wouldn't have to put the car through the SVA test.

One of the SVA tests the car would have to go through would be a 'drive by noise' test. It would have to be set up and this could cost you a £1000 alone, with no guarantee of the car passing it :( so you would be looking at forking out a lot of money for possibly nothing......

Barry (nuovapanda) knows a lot about 126 and the SVA test as he looked at bringing a 126 in from Poland too. one of the last 126 'Happy Ends' I think.

Also there is www.fiat126.co.uk

Cheers

Vin
