Hi y'all

A couple of Army techs from the local base are taking a K reg Fizz (999cc?) on the Mongol rally. But would it be wise to take a non-4wd?

Just wondered what the views were from the experts...

I wouldnt recommend a 2WD panda, what about an old suzuki samurai ?

I think that would be a very slow and uncomfortable way to drive over 3000 miles of un made road. You'd be much better off with some thing with good suspension and lots of ground clearance. 2cv?

It would just be daft. Although if they take a 4X4 I'll hunt them down and make them suffer.

I resent that lol good sammys are getting rarer by the day. mines coming along now. although im eyeing up a panda for higher management (the bird) ont theeeeebay.

Coming from you Jim, that is a relatively sensible idea!

Interestingly, of all the pandas to have gone on the mongol rally in the past, no 4x4s have ever reached the finish, while a number of 2wd models have. Although sometimes the engines fall out...

More to go wrong on the 4x4

Especially as they never in the best of condition before they leave
