I have a 92 Panda Dance. Any idea what wheels from other cars will easily fit this Panda with no modifications. Punto for example? Vauxhall, Renault etc. The aim would be find a newish car at a dump and pick up 4 good wheels and 4 tyres. I am not looking for great performance rather better look and better handling.

thanks nrb

d miller and nrbrowning: Like me, you both have a '92 Panda Dance. Frankly, I don't see all that many around, and in the last two years / 30,000 miles, I've seen one similar to mine, and two on the AutoTrader website. As well as this, the Panda is becoming a rare beast on Britain's roads anyway.

So what about keeping the car true to the original spec? It's not a speed machine; it's a 12-year-old 903cc Panda, and no amount of alloys, graphics and performance exhausts will change that fact.

Just something to think about...

in reply to your comment my dance (nicknamed "brum")is standard apart from leather seat covers and lots of ice ,ie 6-9s two 10 inch subs 900 watt amp etc .i know its not a speed machine rather it is a fun machine .

thanks for your posts dmiller. The search for new tyres/wheels was simply that you see more Vauxhalls/Puntos at dumps nowadays than you find Pandas. Not trying to soup the car up, more trying to maintain it for free with the bits from a dump and prolong its life.

btw my car says Dance on the registration document but there are no labels/signs on the car exterior. Interior is bright red seats.

cheers nrb

'Free' wheels from the scrapper?

That must be one hell of a jacket you've got.

I've only managed to get away with a couple of badges and an indicator. Pockets only soo big.:)

Fix It Again Tony!

you should not steel anything from breakers yard, do you go to halfords and nick half the stuff you need aswell? many breakers are strugling to survive lately with the low price for steel and cheep ness of second hand cars meaning people just buy another car rather than buy used bits, and new eu regluations on the disposal of coolent and breakfluid etc..

The average scrapyard is probably glad to see the back of tyres, as they're expensive to dispose of (legally).

Also it probably absolves them of any comeback if the tyres were damaged in some way not obvious externally*, and you are involved in an accident caused by a blow-out....

Half decent tyres are cheap for what they do.

* who knows what happens to the tyres on a car involved in a crash bad enough to write it off??

scrappy i use are nice guys, they would not sell me a tyre last week because it came off a car that was a side impact right off even though it looked like a brand new tyre. a lot of second hand car dealers buy part worn tyres so if you are buying a used car it could have part worns anyway. another scrappy i use will only sell you a tyre if you take your old one with you.
