hey. ive put a big bore exhuast on(rage) and its make the car worst for power. so im thinking of putting another one on. does anyone known of a dedicated panda sports exhuast?the problem with it is that when your driving its kinda farts then goes well again. but top speed is alot slower than it was. im thinking of putting an uno turbo engine in it soon tho (then it'll have loadsa top speed:) ) its gonna be a big of a project. but im sure i'll cope. i have my brother who changes engines in his cars every couple of months.hehe.

Supersprint do a system from the cat back. Theres also powerflow exhausts who can custom make one. I got one priced up for mine £250 with a choice of any tail pipe. [}:)]

Try that.

Big bore exhausts are no good on a low powered car. All they really do is shift the max power further along the RPM range. So if the car normally has its max power of 45hp around 5200 rpm, with a big bore exhaust, this might shift to 6000, 6500 or even worse RPM's!

What this means for your top speed is that at 60mph or so, not enough power is available (yet, because you're in too low an RPM range) to accelerate the car any further, thus reducing the car's top speed.

I advice not to go over a 60mm diameter for the exhaust pipe...and I think it's adopted by the main manufacturers, like Supersprint,Devil,CSC;)

cheers. ive put a normal one on for the minute as i hav my driving test tomorrow. and i dont think the examiner will take kindly to the loud exhuast. ive ben working on my car all weekend. ive fitted new airfilter, caliper, clear indicater lenses(YAY):D,exhuast and distributor cap. ive also fixed my seat problems taken off the horrid "Dance" stickers and T-Cut it. Now i have the waxing to look forward to tommorrow. but after doin all this i have the same problem i had before my big bore was put on. when cold it doesnt accelorate when in 3rd and 4th it goes slow with foot hard down. and there is also a lag when you accelorate whether its warm or cold. you guys got any ideas????

Cheers Rich

P.S I sprayed my bumber black today and it look the s**t. seriously nices panda front end with the clear lights and the bumber :p

Tell us more about the Panda:
903 or 999.
carb or injection.
distributor, or twin coil.

Not knowing the specification, my first guess would be ignition timing way out due to popped vacuum advance unit.

If you know where it is, and how it gets its vacuum:
check the pipe is not split or perished.
disconnect the pipe at the throttle body/carb end and try blowing down the pipe - if you can, the vacuum unit is shot.

It is available as a separate part for teens of UKP.

If you're feeling butch you can suck, but the petrol vapours are best avoidedB)

When replaced and set up correctly the part throttle response will be greatly improved. So will the fuel economy.

John, according to this;

I'd say it's a carb 903cc with identical funky seat trim to mine [8D]

Panda_Boy, how old is your Panda Dance?

Cheers for the advice. I failed on mon:(. ohwell.

Its a Dance as youve all noticed,903cc,1989/90(G)and yeah it does have the funky retro seats in it.

I'll have a look at the vacuum. because i thought it was igntion so ive changed all most all apart from distrubitor otself(done the cap) and coil.

Are you sure the 903cc engine does have the vacuum unit on the distributor?I ask you this because we had a 127 for many years with the same unit, and I well remember the engine design...;)

I'm pretty sure 903 Panda does, although it is directly descended from the 127 - the vacuum advance is essentially an economy device which was added when people started to think a bit more about MPG ( or KM/L if you prefer ).

There are pictures of it in the early (903) section of Haynes on the Marelli. Porter shows a drawing of the Ducellier, and what looks like a vacuum unit.

Perhaps Paul could have a look at his before it starts to rain (again) tomorrow :) and confirm its existance for real.

Sorry about your fail:(

P.S. the vacuum unit is sold separately - don't let them tell you different.
