I normally order spares from Ricambio as they are a UK-based company, but there are some parts I can only find at Autodoc who I know ship from Germany.
Has anybody used Autodoc since Brexit? Just wondered if so did you get hit by any extra unexpected charges by the courier before they would deliver the goods?
Thanks in advance for any reply.

Contrary to others experiences, I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole, especially where manufacturer-specific parts are preferred.

Plenty of reviews state people have ordered Bosch (for instance) or similar quality brands to find they have substituted for a cheaper brand, which then either can't be refunded, or is subject to a 'restocking fee' or the return postage is eyewatering enough that you don't bother.

I believe they're the same company as Mister Auto.

I have used them in the past (before Brexit - hence this post) and have always received what I have ordered. But I must admit the number of different "brands" of the same part is bewildering. If I was ordering bearings I would try to order a brand I had heard of such as SKF, but as an example I need to order the front hub carrier / ball joints and there must be at least 10 different ones listed.
My current search - apart from ball joints and bearings is for the rubber support rings (top and bottom) that the rear coil springs sit on. Autodoc have them listed at £4.51 and £5.85 each respectively, but they are out of stock and don't look like getting any .
Ricambio have the same items but at roughly £15 and £22 respectively. It is a huge difference but looks like I will have to pay it.

Autodoc seems to be the same as buycarparts, but I don't think they are the same as Mister Auto. Autodoc are I think a German company, whereas Mister Auto are French. There are often parts availale on one, that are not on the other.

I've seen posts about both Autodoc and Mister Auto regarding substitutions, but never had a problem with either of them. They both have a seemingly endless list of alternatives for any part, but some will be marked as out of stock. I wonder if you choose an out of stock item, that's when you get a substitution.

I think so too. They are a huge company and I can't imagine they have a cunning plan to offer top brands but then habitually supply lesser-known brands as substitutes to make more money. It would be more trouble than it was worth and would also quickly be called out on line and their business would be killed off.
I do wish I had a bit more info though when deciding which brand to choose. I don't mind paying more for quality if I know which ones are better and not just a higher price.

Yes, I tried to edit my post to read buycarparts.co.uk, but kept getting an error, I assume there had been issues with the forum!

The issue seems to be that this firm offers known brands for an almost too good to be true price, then substitutes it for a cheaper brand which they have marked up online so it looks as if you are getting a better deal.

Similar to Euro Car Parts in a way, who mark up their prices then have perpetual sales or offers which bring it down to normal prices.

Anyway, as the saying goes, "you pays your money, you takes your chances" I just won't be taking those chances myself.

OP I hope you get what you need.

I’ve just fitted the rear silencer and was surprised how smoothly it went.

Old bracket fell apart as I touched it with a spanner!

Old silencer was pretty easy to remove, cut the the old hangers off and whole thing separated from middle section with minimal effort.

New silencer is a lounge version and appears to be good quality and the hangers were correct type and size.

All in all it was about 1/2 hours work.

Thumbs up for AUTODOC.
