Hi all, new to this section but active in the classic 500 arena on this site.

I'm interested in a 4x4 Panda. But, complete novice in respect of these cars.

Basic questions which I would like to garner your opinion upon in search of an example.

Usage will be mainly road with a small amount of off-road, which may increase to more off road once I'm more familiar with the car's capabilities :D

So:

Which year(s) to consider.
Which engine size is better?
Which model? I would like one with the off road angle and other gauges on the dash. Can these be retrofitted if required?
Part availability, good, bad or really ugly?

Suspect many of these questions have been asked before, happy to be pointed to an existing thread?

My thanks in advance
Rob

Hi Charlie and laugh! Ok, a short and sweet answer. I presume the Sisley is the model to have?

Anything I need to be aware of in respect to common problems associated with these cars? Rust (expected) mechanical etc?

regards
Rob

Is it aloen territory to you..

The old boxy pandas were great little cars in their day.. basic : primitive

Its what people replaced their 2CV 's with ;)

The FIRE engine is pretty near bulletproof

Headgaskets aside..
If your cambelt breaks.. you just spend £10 on a new belt and away you go

Rusty door bottoms is the norm..
Sills and floors quite possibly due to age

4x4s fetch a premium

The Sisley was a top.spec of the time
