Hope someone can spare my blushes & give me a couple of pointers on changing the top engine mount (gearbox side) on a Fire 1000ie. I did the driver side ok & have disconnected the mount on the passenger/gearbox side but can't pull the mount off the captive bolt because of brake pipes, master cylinder & general stuff in the way. What is the easiest way to do it...do I need to unbolt the brackets on top of the gearbox to free the captive bolt & so hopefully give me clearance to remove the mount....or do I need to take off other bits (washer bottle) to give more room? Haynes/Parkers say remove the mount but no more clues! The captive bolt which goes through the centre of the mount seems a variation of ePer illustration which I think shows the bolt the other way round, on mine there is a nut to unscrew leaving the bolt still in the mount. The other possibility is jacking up the car to raise the car body off the gearbox...but am worried about a stressing joints? Any pointers welcome:)

Thanks for this Dragon Man, I must get some of this Tiger Seal. Have just finished in garage & managed to do the job from above....moving fuel filter, bending the filter bracket, taking off washer bottle, bit of raising and lowering engine , with a bit of persuasion old one came off and new one on. Bad news was I had to do it twice as I trappedrear wash pump wire andonly realised after reassembling. Might well have been better to drop the gearbox. ....but was wary of stressing something by mistake, as it was I noticed a bit of a weep from radiator so will check that out when I try to do the last mounting. On the plus side the car is noticeably better with just 2 of the 3 done. Thanks again.?
