Hi guys,

We recently bought a 1993 Fiat Panda Selecta and have had no major problems, however, we noticed that the rear tail lights do not function.

I have diagnosed that the tail lights do in fact work when the car is put into a park mode. Here's a video I found on YouTube to show what I'm going on about.

Since the tail lights come on in this 'Parking Light' mode I would assume that it has something to do with the circuit shorting out when the Ignition is turned on?

Many thanks!

The horn does not function when the ignition is on either unless the wheel is in a certain position.

What would be the best course of action to take?

Checked all the bulbs and fuses, nothing has popped.

:)For what it's worth my thought is it could be two problems...assuming the horn doesnt work properly until its in certain positions the horn issue sounds like it's a poor contact around the steering wheel ...might just want cleaning? This was mentioned a week or two back on the Facebook forum together with pics of a disintegrating contact strip. For the rear lights I'd check earths behind the rear lights(from memory) and consider ignition switch ....electric gremlins due to ignition switch fault mentioned on here recently & gave details on fix. Recent thread titled Earth Fault. Best of luck.

interesting.. do your 5 watt side light bulbs turn on when the ignition is on and light switch in the middle position?
the dim dip resistor will make it look like the side lights are working but you will find it is the main headlamp bulb lighting up and not the smaller bulbs.

if this is the case, i would suspect a power issue coming into the switch, maybe even the switch its self.

again it has been said but wiggle the fuses in the fuse box.. they do corrode and sometimes do not make a good contact.

theres also the possibility that it could be an ignition switch fault.

of you have a cigarette lighter, you will have a yellow and black illumination wire.. try injecting 12v into that directly from the cigarette lighter's live feed. with the ignition off but light switch set to the middle position.. see if you can back feed power through it.
just note, it may also make the dash light up even make it so the wipers and fan may work. so make sure all that is turned off or you will risk blowing the fuse.

if other things in the car power up, it means your light switch is not faulty.

something to try maybe.
