Hi. Any ideas please?

91 Sisley

With a rebuilt Fire 990cc engine in - running fine. On first drive, just 500m trip before the camshaft seemed to stop rotating.

Belt Cover off, Rocker cover off:

Water pump is rotating, Bottom pulley rotating (and slipping new belt) but the main large pulley on the cam will not budge..

Perplexed.
Any ideas gratefully received! Thanks

Well you said it - sounds like the camshaft is seized. If you've got the rocker cover off anyway it's not a big job to unbolt the bearings and have a look. Lack of lube one way or another most likely - were the journals lubed during re-assembly? oil spray bar refitted and not blocked? Head gasket upside down blocking oil pathways? One way or another those bearings are where you'll have to start - could be a big job if they are damaged - camshaft runs straight in the head:(

It's possible to fit the headgasket the wrong way round, which results in blocking the oil feed to the cam. Is it possible this is what has happened in this case?
Yup. Oil feed blocked. New Engine (Professional Rebuild) and the numpties put the head gasket in upside down... Will be an interesting chat tomorrow. Thanks for your feedback.
