Hi all
I have an opportunity to buy a Panda 4x4 MK2, 2003, 66000km, not much rust, great interior condition etc. for about £1500
Only catch: the seller says it won‘t shift into 1st gear correctly - seemingly it does when pushed hard enough. Also he said it helps to turn off the car and only then shift into first, before turning it back on.
What might this issue be? Is it a known issue / is there a known fix? Will it get expensive to fix it? Does it make sense to get the car at all with that issue?
I think I need to act swiftly because the seller is trying to get rid of the car asap.
Thanks!

Some pics. The exhaust is pretty rusted though.

I think reverse works fine. Does that mean it‘s more complicated?
