Hello guys. Just a quick question.

Are there different parts in the panda ignition system that look exactly alike but has some kind of difference in specs or parts number or something like that, or should a part that fits on the car work?

Reason I ask is I have the electronic ignition system on both of my pandas, and I bought a new ignition coil and module, but with the new module installed, none of the cars even start, and the new coil work on one of the cars but not the other,so I'm trying to figure out if I recieved a broken module or if I simply ordered the wrong type.

Both cars are 1988 4x4 with fuel injection, one is cat. the other is not.

Thanks guys.

Cheers,
Albert

Anyone? Seems to be impossible for me to change the ignition coil and ignition module to actual new parts. Now the car is working but only because I took the old coil from my 2nd panda. I can't afford to buy new parts that won't do the job for one reason or another!

i looked into this.. the distributor is designed to fit the panda sadly but if you do not mind doing your own soldering/crimp connections you can use an ignition module from anything. also the coil can be swapped for any coil. the panda one may look like it has 4 "connectors" but it only has 2.

BMW ignition modules can be made to work :D

follow this diagram and just swap out the different bits.

Thank you so much. Just what I hoped to hear. Today I got the car started with a new coil and module fitted, but it ran like ****, jerking and jumping.

I noticed that the metal inside the "out" connection on the coil started further in on the new compared to the old one, and the wire connector is quite short.

Could it be so simple that maybe the male connector on the wire can't quite reach the metal inside the coil connection, forcing the current to jump, thus weakening the spark?

I will check tomorrow with another wire.

Thanks again!

Hey dragonman. Are you sure the colors on the cables are correct? Cause on mine the red wire goes to the B not the C.

But that I havn't changed though so it is the way it's always been.
