1991 Seat Marbella, my wiper is frantic, well fast. Is this normal?

Otherwise, works fine, intermittent is intermittent (though a fast sweep), when switched off it parks in the right place.

Before I dive in and poke at things, maybe this is normal behaviour, or maybe some known fault in it's circuitry?

Thanks,

Well unless you’ve put a24 v battery on the car it’s limited to the motor speed usually if things are heading south. Smoke then slow motor then stop

If it's any use I thought the same about my 93 Fizz...haven't used it for a good while until recent MOT & when I used wipers I thought the normal speed was almost like the fast setting on a modern car, definitely faster than normal speed on any modern car I've had over the last few years. Whether this is common to other Pandas or Marbellas ...or symptom of impending wiper failure I'm afraid I don't know.Cheers.

If I can figure out how to do video...

Doesn't seem as fast as I thought, maybe faster on a wet screen. And may be perfectly normal, I seem to remember other single-blade wipers I have used (Citroen CX, Merc 190) may have been "faster" than twin blades. Maybe simply because a single blade has to travel twice as far, its velocity seems fast, though its wipes-per-minute may be the same.
