1991 Panda - actually Seat Marbella. 2 wheel drive. 903cc, 4 speed. Spanish registered LHD.

Supplier lists 2 different lengths of cable for this car: 3170mm and 2670mm.

Taking a while to get a response from them so does anybody know which is correct, or is it just different way manufacturer measures them?

Maybe they are different for the 2WD & 4x4?

(My VIN is VSS028A0000......)

Thanks.

Just make sure when you go looking you are asking for a Marbella handbrake cable not a Panda as you are asking here - at this age the rear suspension layout is totally different, leaf springs on the Marbella and coils on the Panda so handbrake cable will be too. Don't assume stuff will be the same because they look similar.

Ah, I had no idea Panda/Marbella may be different under there.

Which may explain why I was seeing different lengths - I'll be more careful next time.

Supplier in Germany has got back to me, and from "1991 Seat Marbella, model 28 saloon body, 903cc" they refer me to the part they say is right. ...Though their database could not find my VIN number. The listing on their web site does not quote a length, I'll wait and see what arrives in the post.

Thanks,

Hi there, I have had a similar issue before. I found the mk1 4x4 and mk2 4x4 have different mounting brackets for the handbrake on the axle and so different lengths...but i thought the Marbella one was always the same. I can look at my 1981 mk1 and the Marbella axle tomorrow and let you know if there are any differences . But shouldn't be, in which case you can just buy a mk1 panda one. I can measure the length of the old handbrake cable I took off my Marbella too. I assume you still have your old handbrake cable? Are you able to measure it? Sounds like there is a big difference in length between them so wouldn't have to be a very precise measurement to know roughly which length you need! :)
Cheers,
Si

Thanks Pandamonious.

Supplier claims to have the one I need, so I have ordered it. I've had bits from them before, and they are OK about returns if they got it wrong.

When it arrives - I'll measure before I fit and report back here.
