How good is this engine. ??
I only have experience with 750/1000/1100 FIRE engines in the Panda 141A.

The engine has its origins in the earlier cars, I think it is based on the 850 from the late sixties. Although there were of course updates along the way.
I was surprised to see the title, as in the UK when it became the CLX it was the 1000 FIRE, fuel injected.
Your pic is definitely the 900, same as in the Cinquecento, I imagine.
Early Cinqs suffered from fast wearing cam followers, but any still going will have been fixed by now. Other than that, like all Fiat engines, change the oil when required, keep the coolant on the inside, and it'll go on for years.
And don't forget to give it a good thrash now and then.

honestly these are great engines. dare i say but i actually prefer how they drive a car over the Fire.

yeah, one of the upgrades you could do i guess is put the hydraulic tappets in it from a later cinq if it does not have those already. it will help stop ware on the contacting surfaces of the push rods and valves and make the engine a lot more quiet.

other than that, yeah can never really over service the engines. i changed the oil in mine every year or 6k miles. (i really liked the car wanted to look after it)

oh one thing to note on these is the gear box.. make sure the inner CV boots are in good condition as they hold the gear box oil in! just make sure they are not leaking or have no splits.
