Hello all,

Can anyone recommend any decent speakers to put in my Panda? It has the standard size box speaker cases on the dash shelf. Basically I want some speakers that wil kick out a punch to put in the cases as I want to keep it looking original

any links would be appricciated

Thanks and thanks

i hate to say it but its quite hard to actually find speakers that will fit.
its not so much the "size" that is the issue. its the space it has for the cone to move. i did it with mine but if i turn the volume up too much the cone hits the plastic speaker cover and sounds horrific.

the way around it is to put the speaker on some stand offs/washers. only issue is that that kinda defeats the idea of putting a speaker in a box as air can move freely from one side of the cone to the other.

i know its a bit naff but what i would do is get another parcel shelf and install speakers in that. keep your original shelf, but mod another one.. then just cover it with some fabric. i just throw the jolly roger pirate flag over mine, but under it i have some 6x9's.

someone else may have other ideas though...

I put these Sony 4" speakers in the front on the original pods, they fit fine but the fronts needed cutting on the drivers side to fit correctly around the dashboard.

As above your main problem for neatness is the grilles that come with most 4" speakers overlap the edges of the pods, while the standard grilles will foul the front of most coaxial speakers. If you can find some, a pair of aftermarket square grilles will let you fit whatever you like in there while still looking reasonably standard:

Whatever you fit though decent amplification is key - a decent head unit and cheap speakers will sound far better than beefy speakers on a so so head unit, and no matter what you fit a pair of 4" speakers in those pods will never give you a big sound on their own.

I use Hertz DCX 100.3 speakers. They don’t come with grilles so you must mount them from inside the pods with a spacer ring made from mdf, and the original grilles on the front. Lovely clear sound but don’t expect thumping base.

I've tried Alpine, panasonic, sony, and bass face 4" speakers (all from either amazon or ebay), the bass face and the sony were the best and the alpine units the biggest disappointment. the sony ones could be fitted with their own grilles, the rest fitted behind the standard box. I even bought a pair of grey dash speaker enclosures from Italy hoping for some improvement, they didn't sound any better than the standard black ones.
I fitted some 6x9 speakers (into a broken parcel shelf) which came with a cinquecento I bought and they are mentally loud and have fantastic bass.

I can vouch for there not being much space in the door.
Mine is so tight that when you wind the window down the speaker tries to fall out!
Not a major issue for me at the moment as I still have some holes in the floor but once that is fixed it will be an issue needing a solution!
