CityRover rear coils are 114mm OD iirc, first from right vs. front 4x4 coils second from left.

They are dual rate sprong which might be even better for your application.

Where chopped to suit 2wd rear, clearly can see that the softer rate section is almost closed .

Today got on with the rear suspension set
Up both trailing arms now complete and connection made to the rear Axel
To judge the extent of travel in all positions and effects on IMG_1507993503.263614.jpgthe U.J. Connection blocks of wood cut
1 fully compressed spring
2 spring @ 80% preload
3 at full extent + 50mm overtavel
A laser was set up to read the effect on the flange

Looking good on articulation now but
Practical test will show up problems
Third link now made up ready for fitting .

WOW, engineering prowess, speed, vision and now a LAZER!

So much envy

Here shown the fourth link. In placeyIMG_1507996872.967745.jpgIMG_1507996890.131940.jpgIMG_1507996913.156753.jpgIMG_1507996942.743288.jpg

Connections to be desgined then made up and fitted Brian set up to be used.at the front

Now I am no engineer but does the central location of the read diff not cause problems? And I know that for the travel you are after and the width of a panda a panhard rod is out. What about some variant of a Peaucellier–Lipkin linkage

Well that’s a big name
I will have to google that. Liam when the attachments are fitted all problems may show themselves at the present it’s pretty favourable with the present set up But who knows ???? Google now !

Links have now been made up and the body connection IMG_1508083439.928204.jpg
Temporary position seems to be spot on at the diff IMG_1508083488.167742.jpg

Articulation of 300 mm wheel centre to the wheel arch bottomed one side to furthest travel opposite wheel 700mm
Not sure wether this would be the maximum possible but pretty happy with it. The prop shaft turns freely in all positions except
Both wheels at full spring length and an additional 70mm of over travel This occurrence would only occur if fully airborne or body see sawing on a obstruction. Rare I guess .
Video of the working link

Was the prop shaft being turned by hand in the video? It seemed to be a bit jerky but it could just be the frame speed on the video. All looking fantastic. :) I wasn’t expecting the 4th link to join to the diff

Yes and I slowed the frame rate down for the demo really it’s the linkage I.S the same as a defender but a right-angled triangle intstead of an isosceles a rose joint I.S used to provide moment on the Cntr
Next job add the shockers and spring hangers and bumpstops

So how many hours?

Fabricating the fulcrum point today for the rear Axel bolted to the diff bolts and then welded a bracket to the tube of the Axel
50 hrs

Here’s the pics

It’s been a little slow this weekend a bit of garden work and fixes around the house ,
but have managed to fit the swing arm lowering adaptor stuck with the 50 mm lift here the same as BFG
IMG_1509298295.910085.jpg

Next job will be to make the longer engine mounts -50mm
Longer gear box mount _50mm
Rear gearbox. Mount -50mm
Add 25 x50 box section to the
Front lowers crossmemberIMG_1509298578.263461.jpg

Had a rethink on the shock mods as we did to panda Brian BFG thread 3 sisley s
Instead of making parts to bolt around and clamp this time decided to add a cut off section from an old ball joint housing then weld in place
Note 2wd & 4wd housings are identical except for the holes 12 mm not 10mm IMG_9582.JPG
