Re: 3 Sisleys and a 'HOLE' lot of TLC

We have looked at making a drop down hanging point as realising the longer shackle effect as a tee section connecting to original position and an exter fixing along the chassis rail. But haven't had chance yet to get some 30 x 1.5 wall tube
Also a double Joddel would be require don't know where my fly press is so forward and onward But temporary

Haven't considered adding the extra leaf, although doing so would probably be wise if we are going to obtain a set of stiffer front springs.

Not planning on dropping the top shock mounts. We currently have approximately 80mm lift all round. +50mm front leaf spring mounts, +50mm hangers, +30mm axle spacers. +36mm shock spacers, +50mm hub carrier extensions (with +50mm control arm mount point drop and +40mm extended control arms)

Looking potentially to use Rover 25 springs or Feicia springs as per your recommendations thread. Although we are using standard shocks so are concerned about dead ending the shocks on extension.

We are adding the 1.2 engine which will add a small amount of front end mass.

Have looked at a panda this week with the longer shackles it's Owner had placed coil spring above the axel to the bump stop position a Nice's soft spring would be required say 8mm x 120 mm bolted in place with u bolts

Re: 3 Sisleys and a 'HOLE' lot of TLC

This was my initial set of
Fiat 124 Familiare (estate).

unfortunately during the lower eye welding on process ( i did not use lower cup of std 4x4 shocks) i've burned thru tiny hole. They were oil only so not much happend but some spatters got inside and seals gone busted pretty quickly.
They surely made rear ens stiffer and give better feel in corners. This pair was pretty cheap - less that 20 but hard to get. So I went same direction and ended up with Delphi gas shocks (19) from Lada Niva and used lower cup of 4x4 shock. Extended bump stop keep the shock safe from being fully closed and loaded, while there is far more down travel.
Second from top is 2wd one

Re: 3 Sisleys and a 'HOLE' lot of TLC

Make sure your rear diff input shaft angle is at right/ same angle. Not wedge type spacers shouldn't be used in more than 10mm. Axle isn't located at middle of the leaf.
Extending rear shackle by 50mm does not necessarily give 50mm lift - dropping top shackles mount would do.
Shackle normals gives 60%.
Looking good.

You perfectly right the mean angles should be the same. Click image for larger version

As per detail otherwise vibration and noise leading to ware of the U.J will occur. It is also important that the yokes of the drive line counter each other. This mistake can also be made if the yoke Is removed from the spline for maintenance
Also if the diff is lowered this increases the angle which will have the same effect , so simply fitting a spacer under the spring will increase ware and then take the U J. Out of its design range the transfer shaft C j to Uj should also be lowered or possibly tilted too with a rotation of the axel to compensate
Ideally a longer final shaft and shorter first shaft repositioning of the linking shaft closer to the box would be the solution Costly though ! (2 x balance )and gear linkage fowling !

Very interesting

Fly Press are the best, unless you'll loose track of 'the ball'.

I must get under mine with protractor to double check that mine are still lined up and replaced rear UJ as uit had play from day 1. Got some cheap ones from ebay and can't decide is it worth to get some branded ones.

Re: 3 Sisleys and a 'HOLE' lot of TLC

Forget the protractor use a sliding bevel from engineers or joiners kit check both. Is slightly out not to worry as load dependant then read from the sliding bevel gauge the mean angle
