Panda (Classic) 3 Sisleys and a 'HOLE' lot of TLC

Introduction

So this weekend has been a rather busy one. After an impromtu ebay purchase, me and the old man made three 180 mile round trips to Gloucester to retrieve three Sisleys in various states of neglect.

1 red H reg with 95k on the clock and 2 blue F regs with 60 and 65k on the clock.

All have been off the road for quite some time and there are no documents to accompany them, but at £600 i thought it was a bit of a steal.

One of the blue ones has taken a nasty hit, and the sills are completely shot so the body is a no go. It still has the engine, gearbox and running gear. The other has a taken a shunt to the front left wing but with a strong amount of tlc could pass as a rough and ready green laner. With no gearbox and a pretty sad looking engine, i'll likely use the crumpled blue as a donor. Saying that all of the cars are non-runners and without having had a proper look im just speculating.

Now the red one is definately a feasible project, with 'fairly' solid sills and no major dents in the body work (despite the awful doors) she looks to be the bread winner of the lot. The inside isnt so 'wild' either.

The majority of the weekend has been spent loading, transporting and unloading, as well as cleaning out the garage for the new inhabitants so ive only managed to take a handfull of photos.

So the basic plan is to leave the red one for the time being, since she is the least desperate and doesnt look so much of an eye sore on the drive. My priority for now is to strip the blue without the gearbox and assess the body properlly to decide whether she is a keeper or not. If so ill be spending some time on the welder, scraping all of the broken bits and stripping the second blue for all of the useful parts (not keeping my hopes up though).

I'll try and keep the thread up to date with the work and have some more detailed pictures up next weekend after ive gone over the body with a screwdriver and hammer :D
I still can't understand why the pandas got so badly beaten up. Did the seller give you any reason why they had come to that?

Well each one came to the end of the owners capacity to repair then were replaced with the next one
He had space to store the remains which must ave been slightly under cover and in the end I guess the property was sold most of the body damage to the blue ones was sustained in the removal. Fork marks and sling damage from that although the red one is pretty good with hardly any damage , just a slight crush on the front door and started after 9 years were pretty happy as it gives plenty of scope to try new ideas

OK, so no evidence of a field demolition derby then?

Well no more like dragging out of brambles and brush with tractor or forks , although all were full of snail shells evidence of mice in bulkheads
,a little nature reserve was the engine bay overgrown with blackberry thorns

with the replacement engine,
make sure you take the cam cover off and clean the oil spray bar. the one on my replacement engine in Fallout was totally blocked causing one (or more) of the cam lobes to be worn.. its something i have not fixed yet but when cold you do hear the worn lobe ticking.

also while its off, it gives you something to do with the cam cover ;)

Welding officially complete.

1 x 750ml tube of seam sealer, 2.5 litres of waxyoyl and 3.5 litres of Tetra Schutz later....

Jobs for the next few weekends is bodywork repair and prep for painting!!!

Any suggestions on the colour?

Two tone is being considered, either continuation of the bonnet line like this:

Or continuation of the bumper line like this:

Wow, you really have got this done quickly! Both colour schemes look nice... are you planning to go white/red or are the colours still up for debate, as is the scheme? I do quite like the one rolling off from the bonnet line :)

for the painting job I would seriously consider this....(y):worship:

Started to salvage drivers side door today.

The outer skin was still completely solid with a hefty amount of surface rust. The inner skin had completely corroded at the seam .

Since the outer skin wasn't corroded through in any places I figured it was worth leaving, and just replace sections of the inner skin. Saving me £££££ and meaning I wouldnt have to use copious amounts of body filler to get the panels looking flush.

Opening the seams and scratching out the poison...

Surface rust ground off and fitted to the car to check the new seam would leave everything parallel once welded

Purchased some rust remover to bath the bottom of the panel overnight. Approximately 1.5 litres of solution in a visqueen bath. Will check the results in the morning.

Kryptonite That should give this Sisley special boost

Short update. Rust remover bath worked pretty well in clearing out the pitted sections of the panel which the wire brush couldn't. Revealed a few teeny holes which will have to have some attention.

Once brushed off after the bath, I applied a second brush on solution.

It comes out of the bottle white and when it reacts with the rust turns blue/black [emoji15]

This stuff can be left on and painted over so should hopefully provide protection into the distant future
