Technical Which fuse for the cigarette lighter...

Thanks Didge3, I didn't explain myself very well.

The wiring is already in place, I just don't know which fuse to pull while I make the connections. I've been through a couple of manuals (Porter and Haynes) and they have different opinions of which number the fuse is.

Andy help would be much appreciated.

Ah right I see, mine just had an inline fuse on the wiring itself to the cigarette lighter socket, but as firstcar said easiest way is just disconnect your battery (y)

I hate to be stating the obvious, but just plug something into the fag lighter that has an LED and then pull the fuses one by one! :)

The cigarette lighter wasn't working so I was going to replace it. I don't smoke, so I thought I would add a pair of USB outlets (which is what I would have used anyway).

To disconnect the battery, I would have to open the bonnet. As the bonnet cable has stretched that would remind me to replace that cable which I was hoping to save until next weekend, as well as require pliers / mole-grips, swearing.

While the bonnets open, I will see some of the other '5 minute jobs' that are always hiding in there (tidy up the battery charger socket / charge indicator, try to seal the distributor oil leak, etc.) that I was hoping to avoid...and it's raining... :(

If you lower the dash roll you can get access to the cigarette lighter from underneath, you should be able to see the wires leading to it pretty easily, if it does indeed have an inline fuse that's where it would be (y)

Thanks Didge. Dash roll dropped, battery -ve off, connections made, DAB radio installed while I was there (y)
