Hi Guys,

My gaiters keep going quite often (rubber splits/perishes) just wondered
1) who supplies you and
2) how long you find they last?

Mine last anywhere from 6 months to under 2 years. Have used Firstline (recent and the worst), original fiat replacement (not too good either) and Q-Drive. All rubbish except for the ones that came with the car (Panda 1000cl 1986) when it was manufactured which lasted 9 years!

I can't believe these could go so often.

I've heard after time the part its protecting can actually degrade and cause the boots to be chewed up, I would suggest boots should last 10+ years.

I suspect they're all old stock that's left on the shelves these days, rubber bits just degrade with age. The parts you've bought probably lasted just as long as the originals, but they're just as old

Having said that, sometimes it's just dumb luck, I've never had one fail yet and the one new replacement I've fitted so far was a Firstline too, bought from whatever supplier came up cheapest on ebay.

It's a good point, for my last one I decided to try a universal boot (because the 4x4 ones are that bit more expensive and i'm cheap). It's been in place for a few years now. Normally I would say they wouldn't be as good but maybe if the Panda specific ones are NOS then the rubber is in better nick...
