Hiya! Just wondering... Has anyone ever been able to fit a 6 speed gearbox into a 4x4 Panda?
I'm not sure about what parts of the gearbox itself would be involved but it would be great! :p
So it could keep it's great climbing abilities and stop screaming at 110 km/h on the highway...

Maybe with help from a Punto 6 speed gearbox?

Ciao!

Puntos are fwd and would require heavy mods to work on the 4X4 with 4X4 still working. I've looked ito it (actually adapting AWD to a FWD panda) and fount it to be difficult and not worth the effort;)

Well, I wasn't thinking about replacing the whole gearbox... :p
Just wondering if it was possible to replace "inner" parts, like the shafts...

How come no one ever thought about doing something like this?

I just know a little about gearboxes, but it should be possible... Any tip on where to look for infos?

I think the costs of the procedure versus buying a car that was actually designed to do both off road and decent top speed doesn't really lean towards engineering a new gearbox for a panda...

You could ask FIAT.. they could do with some cash at the moment.

It's not the top speed that I'm looking for... I'd just love to be able to do 130 on the highway with the engine safe from explosion and the fuel gauge running down like crazy! :(

They should have put a 6 speed box in the first place, but it's never too late to fix that!
