Lol. But the thing is with Super is it's usually the same price where ever you buy it (ie on a motorway service station). Also all my fun card run on top vroom juice it's only a small tank anyway :P

Fair enough. I paid 1.269 just off the motorway having gone a funny colour at 1.399 at the motorway services (that was normal unleaded!!). The fuel prices website told me it was 13ppl cheaper just round the corner, saving 4.29 and a small seizure!

Panto may get the odd super unleaded treat but it's a learning ECU and will readjust for the second tank. I'll probably get an even better pickup for the first tank (the old Punto did, as does the Coupe), but I'll just waste money to keep doing it.

Anyway to keep it on topic the Sorned VIP is mine!

Maybe not....

Extensive -- and extremely OCD-like -- research has shown that my Punto achieves better economy (measured in pence per mile) using Shell's V-Power Nitro+ (I think that's what it's called, nowadays), compared to their 'normal' unleaded -- between 1.0 and 1.5p per mile, in fact...!

Mind you, I drive like a saint (who mentioned Captain Slowly...?!); and do mostly 50 mph roads; with only a small proportion of both town driving and motorways.

Subjectively, the car feels smoother, and slightly 'keener', too; and I would hope that the innards are cleaner, as a result. I found that it takes two to three tankfuls before the ECU fully adapts, on mine, by the way: so the initial comparison was done after a dozen or so consecutive tankfuls of each. I've therefore stuck with super unleaded (and always Shell: for consistency, quality, loyalty card points and discounts, etc.) ever since.

Your mileage, as they say, may vary, of course.

Hmm interesting So yours is still cheaper even after the price difference?

My experiments (and others, it wasn't just me) were all 10-14 years ago, and the fuels will presumably have changed considerably in that time.

My mileage won't be enough or consistent enough these days to test it properly (Panto will probably not do much more in a year than he did last weekend - unless we go to Italy next year of course! ). I will be able to work out if there's enough change in mpg to offset the significant price increase though - if it more or less does then I'll stick to it. Panto will probably only do 2000-3000 a year, so in real terms a higher cost won't make much difference (I wasn't expecting 49mpg without trying anyway, so this is all Brucie bonus time ).

A was coughing my head off and feeling miserable not sleeping. Bit better sitting up & dosed up, with the touring cars on ITV. Don't know where this cold has come from, but at least it didn't arrive until I'd got back from Scotland.

Re: How Many Left

I done an experiment in the 750L back in 2006, tesco premium fuel over standard, no noticeable improvement, but then again that's a carved setup, yet to do the same in a modern MPI vehicle.

Re: How Many Left

I have run all my pandas on super unleaded...just seem to run better, or could be the placebo effect.

My diesel trunk definatly does more miles on fuel from Esso, BP etc than cheaper supermarket diesel.

is that the standard BP fuel or BP ultimate? I'm due to fill the Bravo, normally use regular BP fuel but might try the ultimate for a few tanks, see if I can beat the 54mpg average.

I used to put Tesco Momentum 99 in my old mk2b, and I shall carry on using it in my Grande Punto, as it's meant to help keep the engine clean.

Information was pulled from http://www.howmanyleft.co.uk , Unfortunately due to the Mk3/Mk4 4x4's sharing the same names I was only able to get the figures for 2013.
Hi all, I have updated the table in the first post to include 2014 Q1 stats. I have also added a 'Change' column, this is how many Panda's have appeared out the woodwork and now are registed to the DVLA or have succumbed to their final fate and have been lost forever :*(.

In regards to the 4x4 stats - I haven't got a clue what's going on with them, how could they have found 35 extra 4x4's in 3 months???

Edit: I have yet to update the percentages. May even remove the column..

114 Sorned Sisleys and only 52 on the road if I read that correctly! Could this be accounted for by farm only use?
