Hi,
I have to get rid of my j reg panda 1.0, so I thought I'd join the fiat forum to see if any parts are worth salvaging before it gets scrapped. It's been standing, are there bits that are in demand that may help anyone out?
(The car is in IG6 postcode)
Thanks

First maybe you might determine if the car is worth saving? What exactly makes you want to break it for parts? It might sell for a decent amount of money if its in alright condition.
However if its definitely being broken, I'm in need of a headlight switch...

I won't break it, I have to get it moved this week, but am happy for someone to take it away and strip it/do whatever. It would be a shame to scrap it if there are useful parts on it that's all. It would need a fair amount of work to get back on the road but it would be possible, it drove to where it has been parked for the last few years!

What a nice thing to do...! (y)

If you somehow have non-rusting doors, people will bite your hands off. But post some pictures of the beast: as Didge3 says, around here, even basket-cases get made roadworthy again...!

It's got alloy wheels! But yes the drivers door has come apart at the bottom!
Can't remember about the passenger door. To be honest I wouldn't expect the panels to be much cop but all glass, lights and interior should be ok, and the engine was fine having had the head gasket changed a few hundred miles before being left.
I will take a picture tomorrow if it helps

Provisionally being collected Saturday!

I'm sure they'll tell you if they want you to know :)
It's a shame it's got to go, I've always had a soft spot for pandas, since having an old red pushrod one in the early nineties. Did 40k never broke down, mid 50s fuel economy, always had a big end rattle at high revs and cold starting till the oil got round!

Well Pandasport and I are the new owners of Freewilly.
Collected it today, changed a couple of wheels and it moved for the first time in 4 or 5 years.
It's too soon to decide a final outcome. I think initially we will have the bits we need; see what is left and go from there.
It currently resides at PS Acre's and PS himself will yank the carpets out during the week and will become the arbitor of viability.
Personally I have no opinion; although I do want another engine for the Green Neglected One.(y)(n)

Thanks for picking it up, Hope now the sun is shining you can appreciate the fantastic effect of the paintwork!
Hope some parts are of use to you and others!

What a true gent you are sir :worship: generous to a fault as they say!
The right man has got the panda from you so it will either live or save other Pandas (y)
