Good morning all,

Pay day is here and I wanted to sort out the rear shocks on my B Reg mk1 4x4.

The issue I am having at the moment relates to sorting a correct part, Fiat uk no longer keep documents going back that far, The local part suppliers cannot pick it up of the Reg of the car and are unable to off the information I am providing. There books only go back as far at 87 I believe.
A few company's on ebay just say computer said no, or list parts for a marbeller.

And the one good guy I can find doesn't know and is trying to find this info out him self.
So, there must be some one on here that has a mk1 and has done rear shocks.... please help me

Part number would be great, a good supplier would be awesome, anything at this stage would be welcomed!

Thanks very much for actually taking the time to have a look, Im really greatfull. My worry is it lists it as a FWD. The FWD and 4wd have some very different back end setups, mainly the leaf springs so the worry would be that this would just not fit.

i know the rear 2wd shocks fits the 4wd. i am after a set as it is those you use when you wanna lift the car. they just have a little more travel.

The key could be to measure the shocks and their mountings and get something to fit.

I'm guessing that fiat didn't make their own shocks and got them from a supplier. This would have been taken into account during the design stage... Just a guess really, but may help.

No bother, Dragon Man reckons it will fit I really hope it does.

Don't think the rear shockers differ from Mk1 to Mk 2 4x4. Rear end seems pretty much identical.

So, no change in the shocks between 2wd and 4wd and the mk1 and mk2 4x4 should also be the same?

Why so many part numbers then

no difference in the size between mk1 and mk2 4x4 rear shocks, mk1 4x2 rear shocks have about 2.5 cm longer travel than 4x4.

edit: the 4x2 shocks below are post 86 omega axle they are much longer than 4x4 and 4x2 mk1 but only with a bit longer travel, just like the mk1 4x2.

So am I right in thinking ill get away with buying the 2wd shocks, infact there likely a little better if I wanted more travel.

Well I thought that I'll get away with 2cm front lift and no mod to the driveshaft flange, and now I have a hole in my gearbox You 'll get 100% confidence that all works fine with 4x4 shocks, with 4x2 we { or I} know only that they are plug and play to fit and have longer travel/are longer, does this mean, that when the susp will reach its max or min. position something won't snap? People say it is safe, I did not try, so can not tell ...for now

Edit: fiat cinq/seicento has very similar shocks to panda 4x4 but the rubber bushings must be replaced with panda ones{ still I did not try this}

4x2 may be a bit to soft for 4x4, the unsprung mass of the rear susp, is greater in 4x4

Ok then, I think im going to find a set of rears for the mk2 4x4 and skip using (however cheep they are) the 2wd regardless of them fitting.
