Red face Panda as a daily driver

Well, after 4 years of Panda's being a weekend car rather than my daily runner, for now Vicky is going to be my daily driver

The Bravo's auto gearbox has decided to throw up some fault needing specialist attention, so while she's in for repair its Vicky to the rescue

Re: Panda as a daily driver

So first apparent issue, not sure if its linked to the over spilling posted here (https://www.fiatforum.com/panda-clas...-problems.html) but although there are no apparent leaks there is a strong smell of petrol at times.Although it is the hottest day of the year and windows are all down etc, so not sure if this has something to do with it?

I have that issue on warm days, never for very long though, I reckon its fuel vapour in the heat, but that is a guess

Congrats on using your panda as a daily driver, mine is too and it gets smoother to drive every day

Mine stank of petrol when I got to work today... As a smell it's underrated.

It's like fresh cow manure. Work on a dairy farm, long enough, and you'll begin to love -- and then, strangely, miss -- it.... Ah, the memories....

I wouldn't recommend dabbing either behind your ears, though....

Ah yes, the joys of living on a farm, I remember having to drive though the sludge from the rotting potatoes in the store next to the farm house I once lived in, had to go through it several times a day, no matter how slow you went, the wheel arches would get covered, and the smell was something else, very few cars parked next to the Sisley 4x4 while its unders were covered in that!

I would expect a carb'd Panda to have a faint smell as the breather for the tank is open to the air, an injection model should be sealed though so if you have a fuel smell you have a leak somewhere, or the carbon canister is full.

I read that as "udders" and was thinking you meant the mudflaps before I realised I wasn't seeing straight

I've had a very long hot day in the office in my defence (6am start - cue violins!) and have wisely (it seems) stopped now.

Re: Panda as a daily driver

you guys all know that Talon is my main car.. used almost every day.. haha
i find he is a bit more hard to start in hot weather, but that however is down to me pulling the choke out by habit rather than a fault of talon.

I've found that, if you keep your speed up, open front windows, air vents, and put the fan on two -- but with my hearing aids out... -- it's cooler than the Punto...!

All the sunroofs would do is bake your head, anyway...!

As yes, fan on two.....a slight issue there, would appear the value is jammed open slightly, so was left on off and air intake 0 for best none warming effect

Re: Panda as a daily driver

50-80 miles a day and she's returning about 50mpg, with best tank on yesterdays fill up of 52.6MPG Using sisters Stilo for now (as shes gone on holiday to France) to stop me racking up to higher milage on Vicky.
