Hmmmm...

Car policies can't be transferred over to vans and cancellation would mean a 0% refund.

One last, last, last attempt to get the bloody thing running by the end of the month (when the tax runs out). Nine months insurance and seven months (alleged) M.O.T would be wasted otherwise.

A lot of ifs buts and maybes at the moment. I've been made a very nice offer for the rolling shell and tyres. Franken Fiat can go back in my shed and I don't have to take all the bits off and sell individually.

This is convenience over conviction. As much as I'd like to finish the project I don't see potential any more when I look at it. All I see are problems.

I could (should) have bought a much better 4x4 for the amount this has cost me and if Peterborough were a rarer model, SR or Sisley then I'd be jumping through hoops whilst bent over backwards (especially for an SR) to restore the old bus but I have my Fantasia for that. The more time I waste on the 4x4 the less time I spend with her.

I've barely done a couple of jobs on the Fantasia since the 4x4 arrived and I apart from storing things I haven't touched Guff II now the van is (M.O.T depending) here for the Winter duties the 4x4 is an unnecessary evil and if parts from it help keep other Pandas on or off road then it won't be in vain. Also taking a dangerous vehicle off the road before it hurts someone can only be a good thing in the end.

I think you are right everything considered. Good luck with the new direction.

All the bolt on bits removed from the engine again today and I'll be lifting the engine out in the morning.

I think the car has had enough as well. All the parts practically fell off how easy it was. Either that or I've had a lot of practice. It still felt odd.

Collected today by Alik and Damon. Some other bits and bob taken to make room in my shed for Franken Fiat II to wait for a new platform.

In unrelated news I've been offered money for my Fiorino and possible a straight swap for a Doblo and there's a Bianca for sale so I may end up vanless and plus one Panda again. ;)

If Alik want to continue this thread as he either strips the parts off Peterborough or see how much that's been done and finish the car off I for one will be watching.

There isn't anything that can't be done but my enthusiasm was chipped away every time I fixed one thing and noticed something else. I went from jumping out of bed in the morning to get to it on my days of to thinking whatever I can't be arsed. For me that's rare especially where a Panda is concerned but I simply had enough. The amount of faffing about with the tank and then not being able to get the fueling right for a race engine to work in a 4x4 platform every time spotting something else that needed doing before I'd drive on the road let alone take my niece or nephews anywhere just felt like I was skating up hill. Even if I did get the engine right it would not be back on the road any time soon. Making faffing about with the engine ultimately a waste of time and a venture of pure ego.

Doing something because "I get things done" is not justification of giving a heart transplant to the automotive equivalent to a comatose cripple.

Anyway FrankenFiat proved itself and if I don't use that engine in Guff II there's a rather nice orange Seicento 1.1 up the road that needs a head gasket. ;)

Some Yankeedoodle stole my Panda Moke design and did it to a Land Rover. ;)
