Re: Panda (race car build)

so does anyone know if cento driveshafts would be the right length for a panda - would be highly fortunateness if they were and you could just swap box and shafts over cause wet shafts design is one of the silliest things fiat ever did if you ask me. If it does work then i'm guessing gear rodded cars like mine could just swap over the diff and shafts and keep the rod selector setup..

Re: Panda (race car build)

I have no idea but live just up the road from Wisbech Engineering who build hotrods so shortening or getting a pair made wouldn't be much of a faff.

P.S Dry shafts mean no more leaking boxes (unless they have an extra hole).

I know the punto gearboxes fit but means fabricating new gearbox mounts and using punto gear shifter and cables.

Do the cinquecento boxes bolt in or do you need to fab new mount too?
The cinq/sei sporting gearboxes are not the same as the panda ones and will not bolt in without fabricating new gearbox mounts and using matching gear shifter and cables. It can and has been done and I've a 500 6 speed in my race car with stilo cables and shifter. The cinq/sei boxes have the 'advantage' of having cable operated clutches as opposed to hydraulic on most of the others.

The good news is that the cinq/sei sporting driveshafts can be used if fitted with panda outer cv joints/stub axles. Here is a pic of my gearbox rear mount jig

Oh and one of my 4 pots with panda mk3 early diesel vented discs that squeeze under 13 inch wheels

Thanks mike9184 thanked for this post

Thanks guys for all the support and info over the course of this build thread it's all been much apreciatted!
But the Panda is no more due to a fire where the vehicle was stored and worked on which was also part of my work,I sadly haven't got near the car since the fire as it's to dangerous . There were a number of other irreplaceable cars but nothing of the car or wheels are salvageable. That's 2 fiat pandas written off while being worked on not sure if I have the heart to start a 3rd one 😢😢

Oh no!! That is terrible news. Seems more than just unlucky; I hope you don't give up. You were making such good progress and was looking like it was going to be a great bit of fun. Will building insurance pay for those losses?

So sorry to hear the bad news, hope you get it all resolved.

Yeah hopefully get money back from it but what do you value a 43,000ml panda clx at ?

Also where do you find another one with a good shell ?

Cheers everyone for the comments im gutted but hopefully this isn't the end I do know of another panda clx but it's only done 26,000ml and on the verge of being to good to mod , but I do need another panda in my life that's for sure
