No I think Vernon was right to stay in 1st after we had spoken with the marshals. The hill is 1in8, then 1in5, then 1in4 (I think), and changing on a steeper part will bog the car down if you can't keep the revs high enough. Several very quick cars ended up crawling up the second part by getting it wrong.

If we'd had a 3rd run a change to 2nd was on the cards but I doubt it would have been as quick.

If it had been a 4wd I think a very early (before the 1in5) change to 2nd and foot to the floor would have been best, but probably not in Pinky. Will have to wait another year to find out now (n)

I think the best Panda for this would be a Selecta :D.

Yeah we were tipped off by a marshal that staying in 1st was best. As Gavin said we would have tried 2nd given a third run but I think it would have diluted the drama .
Well done for working out how to post the vid Gavin, or did you find a teenager after all. :p

Oh I know it'd be slower, but a lot of people seem to try and get as many gear changes in as possible, changing to 2nd would've made it bog down and slower for sure but would've been more dramatic, therefore more fun. Would it have made it in 2nd? Probably but only just, making it more interesting to watch surely?

Thanking you! I did it all on my own too :nerner:

Surely the best Panda will be the Panda looking Panda..... :worship:

Only more interesting if you like watching cars struggle. Yes it would have made it in second I'm sure but it would have quietly cruised the last half, no fun in that. (n)

Panda looking Panda, now that will have the torque to scream it even in second! :D

Here's a few of the Pinky pics from the day...............

Count up at the end of the day showed an improvement on the previous show, £25.62.

Sisley with Ski's. It was only when I was sticking some sales brochures in the window that I noticed the Sisley in the brochure has ski's on the roof rack too!

Possibly my favourite car of the show.....

This was hand built by the Guy pushing it for his Daughter!
A 50cc two stroke engine gives it a top speed of 15mph. Body was hand made in aluminium, and he even made the spoked wheels from scratch. :worship:

Finally, two specially for Alixcompo, enjoy Alik! ;)

Ok I see your point, maybe I just hate the idea of screaming engines. I revved my GP to the rev limiter once in the year I owned it, 7000rpm, made me cringe so much, doesn't feel very nice to the engine.

I got my TA 500C into second gear both runs and had to brake at the top to avoid a fararri moment. If I hadn't changed I'd have been redlineing it for 2/3 of the run, even got a little wheel spin when I changed gear ;)
