The continuation of my Pandamonium thread...

https://www.fiatforum.com/newbie-central/297506-pandamonium.html

...I've separated my two Pandas so you can have twice as much to read.

I've paid £77 (is that the going rate for twenty pieces of silver these days) to rent my log book for six months. There's nothing like the feeling of taking a car that you have worked a great deal with back on the road. :)

That feeling lasted sixty yards.

This looks familiar. So familiar in fact after I emptied a can of petrol in the tank (simplest solution first) it took a mater of seconds to swap carb's over...

...the car ran perfectly for a few seconds and cut out again. Checked the fuel lines and filter; all okay check for a spark. Dead.
Take the distributor off, apart, cleaned out (thinking condensation on the points where she's been stood a while), rebuilt, replaced, retimed, turn the key and the car starts for a few seconds and cuts out again. Hmmmmm....

Put a multimeter across the six month 900 mile old coil. 12.4V on both sides?

I'd forgotten the first rule...

When an old car breaks down check the parts that have "Lucas" written on them first

The coil from the 750 in place...

...and she's running perfectly again. :)

Is that gearbox oil on my drive? Grrrrrr!!!!

A test run into the village netted an unwelcome result. The drive there was fine. Parked up outside my local co-op. did my shopping, left without incident got half way home and the car died again. Too far to push home this time I was towed the mile and bit. This time I took the condenser off the distributor (as it was the only I hadn't changed) and fingers crossed she's running better than before and successfully got me round the block and back. A little skittish due to the engine being cold (I hope) but it's now too late for me to cycle to work so it's either fixed or I'm going to be late.

You look like you have a self cleaning device fitted to the car to get rid of that gearbox oil.....

Just leave it ticking over and the lack of a clip on the fuel line from the pump to the carb should spray nicely and land in the right place...fire works well too....:D

It's an interior door handle for a MkV Transit. ;)

Could come in handy as that's that's the platform my transporter project is based on. :)

I do feel for the guy as he's sent ten items out this week and only one has been the right one to the right customer. I offered to send it back but he's happy to send me a condenser first thing Monday.

Afternoon drive with the roof open is on the cards so I'll just do what I came here for and head out. :)

I forgot how stiff the roof gets when the Sun goes down. So I didn't crack the material I warmed it up with a hair drier first. A couple of weeks before night driving with the roof open I think. ;)

My Italian eBay guy has given me some food for thought...
