Hi !

I've got some trouble with the engine of our Panda. It's a 1000 Fire model and the problem is as follows:

Sometimes during accelaration the car doesn't move smooth and does not react according to the "accelaration-pedal" I have to pump to become faster and the maximum speed can't reached anymore, too. To me this seems to be a problem with the "Weber - Vergaser" (I do not remember the english translation now). But I may be wrong ... The engine sound itself is all right and moving the "accelaration-pedal" when no gear is selected sounds also normal.

Perhabs someone here can help me to localize the problem. (Without localization repairing costs may raise very high ...)

Hi - welcome to the FIAT Forum.

Your Panda problem might not be the carburettor (Weber - Vergaser).

If the spark is poor, or badly timed, you can get loss of power and poor accelerator pedal response.

The "points" (contact breaker) in the distributor are first thing to suspect - they are very hard to get at, and expensive for what they are. And usually ignored until they are worn and give problems.

You can adjust them while it's running with a 3mm (I think) hexagonal key down the hole in the distributor.
Some insulating tape on the key helps stop the sparks when you mis-align it :)
Ideally adjust for correct dwell angle and timing, but for quicker tick over may prove if this is the problem.

Post here again if it helps, or not!
