General Seat Panda Terra

Heh thanks! All good though, I know what the underside of a 4x4 looks like, spent plenty of time lying under my one! Was just curious as to the differences in Marbellas and Mk1s

The picture was for Alik :) :p. Sorry, should have made that clearer.

Looked under the back of the Terra and Mk1 today, haven't done that for a while, the Mk1 has a single leaf spring and the Terra has a two leaf. Both have the axle on top of the spring. So Alik, :p only the 4x4's have the axle under the spring from the factory. I don't know if it helps you to know all that but others in the future may find it useful.

I may be a 'nerd' but I find all these obscure details fascinating.
Amazing how a bit of conversation can share knowledge.

Vern (many thanks again) is your Terra a petrol or diesel?

I wasn't sure if the van version was actually sold in the UK but then noticed one for sale recently fitted with a VW Diesel engine.

And what weight can the Terra carry. I'd guess about 4 or 5 cwt which in real money is perhaps 250Kgs

Be good to see you and the car at some of our shows and meets..I'm sure we would all love to see the work you have done once it's finished...(y)

Come and join us at our panda camp 2013... Become a member and get a free sticker...:D

Yeah I would love too. Seriously considering pandacamp but I won't know by the end of Feb if the car will be available as I have another restoration ongoing as well.
Would be great though.

Feb is just a deadline for the people who are certain they are coming by then......you can book the camp yourself at anytime and join us.

That's not a tent it is the car

Yeah. Not a lover of sun roofs. I haven't tried to open it and possibly never will.

If it turns out not to leak it will be a result....... If I open it then it almost certainly will let the elements in..

^if it ever does leak its not hard to adjust. mine leaked and was siliconed up, but i adjusted it and now it seals up proper good. even with the hose jetting at it

damn, i really should stop giving advice :/ i think i have caused 3 broken windscreens so far :/

in some ways i kinda was hoping mine would of broken.. when the light catches it.. it looks like some maniac has attacked it with a wire brush then shot at it with a salt packed shot gun with all the micro scratches and odd micro stone chips in it.

you should be able to use the old rubber seal if you cant find one.. with a little wet and dry sand paper and some water you can get the thing looking like new. mine still looks good and that was done last summer.

Mine's a petrol, 903cc ohv.

maybe its a thing with the older windscreens? they just don't accept any flexing?

my one seems as tough as old boots, i had a very solid iced over snow ball thrown at it with enough force to set the alarm off and the screen is still good.

i do think that they changed how the glass was made after 1989 (not sure) making it more tougher.

possibly slightly later, swapped out Grumbleweeds (1990) for a '93 from scruffbag as I noticed the later one was marked as toughened. Had the older one out & back in twice without incident though.
