Hi everybody. I am looking at a classic Panda to keep the Punto Mk2 company.
I love the funky old shape and basic honesty of these cars.
I have seen one very close to me, with no MOT, that looks a bit scruffy but not bad on the surface at least! It is a 90's model. The worst part appears to be this door (see pic). as Panad bits seem to be hard to come by, do you reckon this could be fixed? Would it be ok for the mot like this for now (as doors are now covered by the mot)?
Any advice gratefully received.
Thank you.

tape the sharps bits up and i will pass an mot, it can be repaired at a later date.
look for rust where floor meets sill.

if its got boot carpet take it up look for rust along edges of boot floor and rear seatbelt mounts.

this pic will tell you all you need to know about fixing a panda

:yeahthat:

Its far more important to check very carefully under the car there is no serious structural corrosion. Even if you have time & the skills to fix rust it can take months of solid work to get it through a MOT.

I had a look under today, as well as you can do at the roadside without ramps etc.
I took a couple of point and hope pictures (attached). You will probably recognise which part of the car they are!

In Panda terms it's practically mint :D

on second thoughts more people wanting panda doors is going to make my search for a pair of replacements more expensive. :(

How about a nice mk1 punto instead, Aston Martin can give you a heads up on one :p

Its been welded before, the last photo showing the sill behind the front jacking point you can see the line of continuous weld and also the lip has this 'bobbly' texture which shows its a patch. Also the newer black underseal can be seen against the cars original underseal. Mind you its doesn't look a bad repair and overall I have seen much worse

Cheers mate! I hope it is. I just want to give it a good home without ending up divorced and homeless in to the bargain! Maybe there's a business to be made in pressing Panda Classic panels?!

Yes I thought so too, but that isn't such a bad thing is it?
Here's a couple more pics

Looks too have been done in all the usual places to an MOT standard, the outer sill seems to be pretty rusty under the underseal/stonechip stuff. If you want one to keep for a long time I would find another, but if you are after one for abit of fun for a while then go ahead, just dont be suprised if it fails its next MOT on rust.

if you have a spare weekend to treat whats there and repaint and underseal the car it should be good for another 5 years minimum. Whats there doesnt look too terminal.

If you can get a cheap donor door that is
