Don't. mock, ok you can but gently please......

Thinking about trading in 500 for something a bit more pandaesque.

Doing this as mum can't get into fizzle and really can't justify a 7k car doing bigger all miles a week but still depreciating. Yes the other car will lose money but starting at 3k is less to lose overall.

So erm, any opinions on

Fiat Panda look a like (if you squint)

Suzuki Ignis........

bigger, can't post photo.

It's red btw :)

I've had an interested eye on the Ignis in the past, probably as you say, because it looks similar to the Panda.

Get one if you must, but wouldn't a Mk3 Panda suit?

I was going for a mk3 until I tried to get in one, daft 5 door car when everybody knows it should be 3!. I struggled, mum would have a real job on I'm sure (though I may put that to the test to be certain). Shame really as would've been great otherwise.
Looking at prices online the Ignis needs a serious adjustment anyway.

is it a poverty spec model ? no alloys:p

It's a gl only sports got alloys and the later 5 door models as far as I can make out.
Has a 1.3 engine and is fairly quick. ABS, electric windows and mirrors, central locking though not remote. 26k 6 months warranty and tax and full mot. 2 owners from new and service history.
Only issue on paintwork is rear bumper top has been pockmarked somehow.
Blinking indicators are on the wrong side though!
Alloys only get kerbed IMO and are for flash harry types :p

what about a vw lupo? or a seat arosa?
I driven the lupo and it is a quirky little car, the interiors a little boring, but it drives well. the arosa is the same car, just with a different badge. It shouldn't depreciate too badly either.
Suzuki Wagon R is a very odd looking motor.. :p
Otherwise, nothing wrong with a punto (cheap as well), or the stilo. perhaps you should take a look again at the mk3 panda, drove it a handful of times and seemed very practical.

Should never had been a 3 door, and that why it has 5. Get a 500 if you want 3 doors :p

So what difficult about getting in and out of a mk3

High sills and deep foot wells make it harder for mum on all cars. Guess you have to be knocking on 80 and arthritic to appreciate how poorly designed cars are from an elderly passengers point of view.
I won't be buying a mk3, I found my (admittedly broad) shoulder pressed up against the door. The mk4 was slightly more spacious but door sills worse!
I'm disappointed that neither is suitable.
Vernons idea for an idea is being scuppered by lack of local availability. Mum's coming to try the Ignis weds. May well end up in a wagon r if that's no good!

Hmmm, they are a little thin on the ground. :(

Widening out the search now. I have to be careful that I don't get carried away and end up swapping the 500 for an equivalently priced car, after all the idea is to get a sum of money out of it to ensure Fizzle's future. Often overlooked but reviews are positive for the Mazda 2 and Mitsubishi colt. Off to kick the tyres on a 2 this morning. I think I enjoy the thrill of the elusive 'right' car chase too much!

Have a look at a Kia Soul, I've never been in one but they look pretty .
