I know how this is going to sound, and I don't mean it to...it's just an idea thats too late anyway...I love the polishing look, pinky looks great, but maybe it would have been fun to have only polished on side.. half the car straight down the middle.

It's ok...ignore me..

Not at all Kev, thought the same thing myself, but it's an idea I've been saving for the Seat Terra. :)

Pinky is having a couple of issues at the moment. :(

For some reason or other he has decided to just kill his engine at random times, just cuts out usually at slow speeds in town. He starts straight up again and drives perfectly at higher speeds. I've reset the points and given the carb a clean so we'll see if that fixes it. The fuel cutoff solenoid has already been um cut off :p.

I can't test him out at the moment as when I was working on him I found that the water pump was very noisy, when I took a closer inspection I found there was loads of free play in the shaft, can't believe it wasn't leeking. Anyway he's in bits waiting for a new one.

Gavin! I feel a bill coming on ;).

Not a particularly exciting post but good for keeping a record of work done, Pinky now has a new water pump. :)

He didn't die on me on the way home either so maybe the slight adjustment of the points helped. Tickover is very lumpy though so I think a new set of points is on the cards. Tickover noise is much better however now that the grumbly water pump has gone.

The original water pumps have quite a large shroud around the impeller whereas the pattern replacements have nothing, every time I fit one I expect the car to overheat but they always work just as well, strange.

could it just be the carb needs tuning? its amazing what you can do with a flat blade and a Co2 meter.

heh was that water pump plastic like my one was?
i bought 2 water pumps as one looked better than the other. one had much much bigger fins on it, longer and slightly deeper. that was the one in ended up fitting over the patten part.

It's not a subtle shade of pink is it?

Sort of grabs you by the eyeballs somewhat.

Have you got some up to date pinks on the interior,

Sorry I meant pics!

Bet you thought I'd forgotten didn't you.

As you can see it's still pretty grubby and faded.

He's still dying now and again too so the tinker a few days ago didn't cure this after all. New points and condenser will be ordered soon, and I'll have a more thorough go at cleaning the carb out, as a couple of you have mentioned, it could still be this too.
