Spent an hour this afternoon trying some other wheels on Charmania. I've always tried to keep the mods as old skool as possible but now it's getting close to selling time I'm wondering if it will be more popular with a more modern image.
Either way I think an engine upgrade to 1000cc would be useful, I have an uprated head for it and it would remain carbed.
There's also the option of the spare beige Alfa interior instead of the Seicento/chequered theme it currently has.:confused::confused:

I really can't decide what to do for the best, any suggestions will be gratefully recieved.

Here's the wheel options for starters.............

Those alloys in the 2nd picture really don't look good in my opinion :yuck: What did they come from?? Somone will love them I'm sure!

As you know I think the Palio alloys really suit the Panda's. Aren't you all lucky that the Palio's rusted away (apart from mine :D ) but everyone kept the wheels!! (y)

i'll give you my first born for your 127 alloys

Sorry Blackpool, doesn't look like I'm going to be buying nappies any time soon. ;)

It looks like sticking to the orignal design brief is the way to go, I've probably just got a little bored with it coz I see it every day, when it's here .

Now I've just got to decide whether to sell it with the 750 engine and the 1ltr as an extra cost option, or just put it in any way and ask a little extra?

Life was so easy when I kept them all. :(

It's a very good looking car Vern and so looks good with most types of wheels, which ever ones you fit probably won't make much difference to any sale price, so I would keep the ones that you like the most.

They both look okay to me. How do they feel on the road is more important than aesthetics. The wide five spoke is retro and the 127 wheels are classic. By modern I thought you were considering something like a Compomotive CXR or something a bit J-Tuner like innit bruv'. ;)

That's a good point - in which case I retract my previous answer & think you should sell it with the "lovely" alloys in the 2nd pic ;)

Happy to buy the Palio ones off you VmanC if that makes more sense for you - they'd look good on my mega expensive(!!!) black Panda don't you think?

And personally I think it should stay as a 750 - it's a sweet little engine & I'm not convinced there's a noticable premium on the 999cc when selling - if it's £400 worth of work to fit and adds £200 to the price why bother? Those amounts were not based on anything by the way - maybe the sums add up?

Different if you were keeping it, but you need a business mind on this particular one. (y)

For the "yoof" market may I suggest a controversial move,
Black palio alloys with Red highlights. Keep the current interior.
I would say lower it slightly but modded cars will increase insurance costs which also precludes changing the engine too, target market and all that:)

Edit: car is already lowered

hmm the only problem with aiming the looks towards the younger age is i feel most would not look after it.
you lower a car and make it look something it just is not and the next thing you know its been wrapped a round a tree.
i know most of us young'uns on here are not like that (much) but when selling it you dont know who is going to buy it.

what i am saying is, it would be just a damn shame to see a nice 750 lost if say some lairy bugger was to buy it and crash it.

anyway, i think the palio alloys look good. modern stuff on classics nahh.. well you guys know how i feel about alloys on pandas. i think pandas as the whole look great when standard.

Controversial view: put a set of refurbed steelies on it with the original black centres, and keep those lovely Palio alloys for your own car/next project! Am not sure the alloys will make much difference to the sale price, and might create insurance issues/attract the "wrong type". Car is so lovely I think its value will be in its condition and the care and subtle mods you've put into it. For same reason I'd keep the 750, but perhaps consider swapping box to 5spd if currently 4.
:worship: to limitededitionsunlimited by the way!

I think for the the second set of alloys actually works better for what you want to achieve. The 127 ones are very retro and only a few people would appreciate the rarity/design.
I would advertise it as it is without further modifications (looks nice anyway) with the second set of wheels.
You can always suggest the other modifications you had in mind to the buyer at the time of sale and staple your business card to the V5. :D
They might come back a few months later after once they fell in love with charmania (y)

I'm so pleased I started this thread, all your feedback has been very helpful.

Dave (Aquamarine), gearbox is already a 5spd but your idea of steels with the black centres is worth investigating before I put the palio's back on. (y)

I think the engine upgrade was more for me than for anything else, and Gavin, you're right, I do need to have my business head on. So the 750 stays and give the new owner the option of the bigger engine, business card stapled on to V5 ;).

The bonus of all this is that I have a lot less to do before it's ready. :)

Is this the kind of thing you were suggesting Dave? I'll repeat the other pics to make it easier to compare...........

I like them. :) The car really feels more glued to the road too, which just makes it feel like it could handle alot more power. Here we go again.
