Hi guys

My name's Bart, I am fiatnut from Poland Krakow. I own few old fiats, among them there is my trekking 4x4 panda. It was 1.0 carb. fire from 1991, but the original engine died{ piston rings= smoky smoky :)}, so now it has 1998 punto60 1242ccm 176B4000 type with nice 866 cam from 75 mpi, but still with 32 tlf carb and LPG instalation. Body is in "140 rosso corsa" red, average condition, some rust some dents etc, but it is ok, I use it as it was meant to be used, strolling through the bushes, scratching the paintwork, it is not a display-toy.
I use bigger wheels, 5.5x14 with winter extrema 175/65-14 tyres, front seats are comfy ones from lancia prisma.

Welcome

But if your panda is from 1991, it's not a Trekking, it's a 4x4 CLX (y)

"You" can buy a trekking sticker (y)

Trekking it was released about 2000, it was the last "classic" model.

This is a real trekking:

You are completly wrong my friend, fiat epeer tells the truth:) trekkings were made from 1991:) in different specs for different markets.

Here you have everything about my trekking mate. Date of prod. is indeed march 1992:)

Well you may be right but in Portugal, Spain and some other country's your panda is a 4x4 CLX!!!!!!

But eper it's a funny software, because it shows you a Sisley with a SPI motor...

And what is wrong with sisley with spi motor? they were sold for instance in Austra, Switzerland, Italy{ request}and other markets where catalitic converter was obligatory before 1991 :) nothing out of ordinary.

There is even one to buy in Poland now. 1990 sisley 1.0spi, car is from Austria.

Again you are wrong :) first 1.0 fire engines with single point injection were made in 1987{ because of the catalisator requirements for some markets.} also first Sisley-s were made in 87, so you could buy brand new Sisley spi in 1987.... sorry mate change your "know-how" supplier. Maby in Spain or Portugal they{ spi-s} were sold from 1993, but these beautiful countries are not the "whole world" my friend.

Well my "know-how" is google.com and I find in many websites this information:

The FIRE engine has been available in the following displacements:
769 cc (0.8 L) - 65 mm bore x 58 mm stroke
8v (1986 - 1992)
999 cc (1.0 L) - 70 mm bore x 64.9 mm stroke
8v (1986 - 1993)
8v SPI (1993 - 2003)
16v SMPI (1998 - 2003, Brazil only)
8v SMPI Flex-fuel (2005 - current, Brazil only)
1108 cc (1.1 L) - 70 mm x 72 mm
8v (70 mm x 72 mm) (1983 - 1993)
8v SPI (1993 - 2000)
8v SMPI (2001 - current)

Maybe eastern country's are special (y)

But lets not start a discussion here, if you can find an 1987 fire engine ECU I pay you a dinner in Portugal or in UK (y)

Now now chidren.....let's not fight...;)

We are not fighting, it's just a technical discussion.

Google and wikipedia{ this quote with1993 as the beginning of prod. of spi comes from wiki} are not best source of knowledge because you and I ,or anyone can write everything there ,and edit it anytime. I preffer paper books:) or trusworthy sites like

http://www.carsfromitaly.net/

. Also there are some small mistakes, but hey, we are talking about fiat panda, not nuclear fusion, it is not that serious :) Discusion is always fine.

The conclusion is that first countries to meet new fire engine with spi in 1987 were the countries with strictiest emmision regulations like Austria or Switzerland{Alps crystalclear air, no pollution etc}. The deadline for other countries was 1993, because in 1993 European Union emission regulations started to be valid as EC93 wider known as "Euro 1" emission standards. And that's it.

Lets find information from FIAT about it and then we know for sure.

Carsfromitaly.com is like a personal opinion.

I'm still waiting for the ECU (y)

Welcome  & I also love the 130! What wheels are those?

At the risk of offending someone, the above is correct. In the course of 1987 the catalysed version of the 999cc FIRE engine with spi & electronic ignition was introduced. Not over in the UK, but certainly in other countries - source Fiat itself, so likely (though not always  ) to be more accurate than other sources.

Wheels are quite rare split rims,8x16 speedline-s from the early 80's. Though can't tell you the exact rim code : SL...... ?

I also own argenta 2.0 ie 1983{ not finished after paintjob}, and two regatas, one is 1.7D mk1 1986, other one is mk2 1988 , was 1.3 petrol , but I modified it with parts from ritmo abarth{ progresive springs and rear leaf} bigger brakes etc, and ofcourse nice 2.0 16v engine:){ from early tipo sedicivalvole}

On sunday we have made a trip with my friends to the nearby desert:), yes desert in Poland ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B%C5%82%C4%99d%C3%B3w_Desert ) 100 years ago it was more than 150 square kilometers, now only about 40, but still nice place to visit. Unfortunetly one month ago the area has been closed till end of 2013,due to recultivation{removal of the trees , goal is to return to the previous 150km2 area of sand} and removal of duds and unexploded ordnances{ it was used as a artilery poligon, proving grounds}. We could not go through the desert, so just made some trip around it through the woods.
